I swear I still have dreams that go like this. 🚁 ⛷

It feels like a mix between being in a Bond movie and part of some recon military mission.

Back in 2019 I was fortunate enough to visit @silvertipheliskiing and every year I comb through those photos and videos and get extra STOKED for winter! I can’t imagine a life now that doesn’t involve skiing, it’s such an incredible way to experience the mountains.

Bought some new skis, got my @collectivepass and now we just sit and wait for more snow 🤞 ❄️ I tend to quite excited about winter these days and instead of getting used to it or getting sick of it, my stoke level just seems to increase year after year!

Usually it seems every autumn and winter, my fitness decreases as chairlifts replace legs taking me uphill and wooden planks slide me back down. This year I’m determined to keep running, using those wooden planks to take me uphill more often and continue training for a few ultramarathons and a skyrunning race next year.

As the Ancient Greek stoic Epictetus once said ‘We must undergo a hard winter training and not rush into things for which we haven’t prepared’ Battles in Ancient Greece were often fought in the spring and it was those who spent their winter training that were ready for battle.

Good friend and athlete @karelilly first turned me to stoicism back in 2015 when she was training (to win) a 24 hour mountain biking race in the Rockies. Thanks again Kara, those lessons were invaluable. by @volcenash

36! Im getting old 😅
So thankful that I was able to spend the last few weeks with family and close friends and finish it all off with my birthday.

It’s always a pleasure showing people the Canadian Rockies for the first time!

Someone commented the other day that I must have been relieved to have our place back to ourselves and family gone… that could not be further from the truth. I don’t see my family very often (last time was 2019) so I cherish every second I can spend with them and hate saying goodbye at the airport. Hopefully the next visit won’t take as long. @daniallen_ you’re up next!

Ash Allen Training Alpine Adventure Day!
We ran across glaciers, forded rivers and had an absolutely awesome day running from Bow Lake up to the Wapta and out to Peyto Lake.

Couldn’t have done this without Kris Irwin @highergroundguides if anyone wants to higher a guide Kris is an absolute beast and kept us all safe.

I’ve been wanting to organize a day like this for a number of years to bring a few people I train together and it couldn’t have gone any better.
