"Athletes rotate too much" , no, I think they don't rotate ENOUGH to handle the rotation needed to perform their job.

A lot of groin, sports hernia, disc injuries because a lot of our traditional strength work is all in one plane. A lot of those movements typically involve the hip or thoracolumbar fascia. There is no such thing as athletic human movement that does NOT require some type of rotation.

I welcome the debate 🤌🏾

You are either preparing & sharpening a skill or allowing it to regress.

The offseason and inseason are the same, just one is in the dark and the other is under the bright lights.

The work you put in will be put on full display one day. Can't fake persistence, patience and preparation. It's not a comeback, it's just a re-introduction, still D4 🐶

I got away from static stretching a longgggg time ago got my preactivity warm up.

Fascial stretching has been one of my hacks for improved performance as well as longevity. After hours of training, your tissue dehydrates and shortens. In order to prepare and or restore my body to it's normal state, moving through multiple planes helps re-establish my neural tone, tissue length and hydration before attacking the next workout.

Add these to your warmup and see the difference in how prepared and engaged your body will feel.

The good ones don't have an "OFF" season.

We are either developing, acquiring or sharpening a new skill on a yearly rotation. If that is not your approach to the sport, don't get upset when you start splitting reps.

You should be developing mentally, physically, emotionally and tactically, all year!

Stronger core means stronger accessory respiratory muscles.

The stronger they are, the more efficient your exhalation during steady state and hard efforts. It all adds up as a competitive athlete, those muscles use oxygen too.

It's all about efficiency, especially how your energy is utilized.

Plyometrics should be a staple in any athletic development program.

They’re one of the few training methods that closely resemble the speed, force, and explosiveness required in sprinting and sport—and the benefits are tremendous.

From a sports rehab perspective, plyometrics tell us a lot about an athlete’s readiness to return to play. Ground contact time, posture, landing mechanics, and force absorption all provide valuable information.

From a performance perspective, they show us where an athlete can improve.

That’s why we include plyometrics throughout every phase of training and rehab. High-level athletes need to keep their nervous system prepared to produce and absorb force quickly.

And when we jump, we don’t just jump—we train across different planes, depths, speeds, directions, and positions to create a complete athletic stimulus.

If plyometrics aren’t part of your training, what exactly are you training for?

Conditioning does not mean run your athletes into the ground. The base word is "condition" meaning to acclimate and get used to something.

In this instance we want our athletes comfortable with expressing power in a somewhat fatigued state in the event they need to express the capacity.

Our focus on conditioning days is to improve between round recovery and sustained force output for several rounds. Not to see if we can win as coaches.
