A purser hack that sounds almost too obvious to mention👇

Take the charter card out and show it to the crew. Every charter.

Crew change, people join halfway through a season, and someone will inevitably be sent ashore to buy something in a hurry.

Most boats have separate accounts for charter spending and boat operations.

Just assuming that everyone knows which card they should use can land you in quite a pickle 🙃

Each HOD might be tracking their department’s purchases, but the charter accounts ultimately come back to the purser.

Before each charter, I show everyone what the card looks like, explain which purchases it’s for, and ask them to let me know whenever they use it.

It takes a couple of minutes and can save you a lot of chasing around later, trying to work out why a charter expense ended up on the boat’s account.

Even if you remember giving the briefing last time, someone onboard may be hearing it for the first time.

Save this for your next charter 🌊🌊

As evening fell over Monte Carlo, Pursers from all over the world gathered at the beautiful @amu.montecarlo for our latest Purser Exchange.

Joined by Moët Hennessy Private, guests enjoyed an exclusive tasting of Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame, the house's tribute to Madame Clicquot, the visionary woman who led it with exacting standards. A fitting tribute to our Purser Community.

Over exceptional champagne and fine dining, conversations flowed and new connections were made. It was an evening to drink, dine and network in the finest company.

With thanks to everyone who joined us. Until the next chapter.
