Ceremonial Markings for Maddie. Marking her belonging to self, conviction of the way forward.

Ceremonial tattoo is such an act of self reclamation. To come home to the self, the individual beauty, power & gifts one beholds.
.
It’s such a gift to assist in this realisation and marking.
.
Maddie sat with such grace and presence as the space filled with a brewing of her prayers, for her life.

So proud of her!

Self evolution is ironically not intended to be done alone. We are not built for, nor need to isolate this process.
.
Evolution catalyses through mirroring and reflecting. Often we need our communities, our teachers and our true honest allies to reveal to us where we are small, hidden, or afraid.
.
Because the greatest regrets are what we didn’t do, when we held back from creating. We do this to mitigate our fear, to avoid failure, and to play small and safe.
.
When life hands you a strong reflection - a teacher, notice the wisdom of the body. The turning away, the defence, the uncomfortability that is calling you into something new, beyond the current self.
.
🏹This shoot was a visual storytelling of the ethos of ceremonial tattoo, how through doing this work we emerge and reveal new layers of our centre, our story.

Our 2026 Wild Village Festival poster!

And DAMN we are proud of this one.

To have artists of this calibre joining us in the Village, in such an intimate setting, is pretty bloody special.

This is music up close. Hearing the stories behind the songs. Singing together. Dancing together. Laughing and, no doubt, crying together.

Music has always been one of the great connectors, and that sits right at the heart of Wild Village.

And look at this bill. Women on the stages. Women behind the scenes. Women creating, leading, taking up space and continuing to give this industry a good shake-up.

Around it all, there’s the Village itself. Swimming, making, moving, sharing, learning, resting, eating together and friendships forming everywhere.

WE created a Village, together.

And soon we get to be there again!

I’ve spent a lot of time travelling solo, it’s cultivating in so many ways - Two of my greatest learnings have been:
1. to simply have fun & embrace the world
and
2. that community is EVERYTHING.
.
So a full circle moment for me is returning to Bali 11 years after I started travelling in 2015 - this time with some of the richest company I know, so grounded in who we are, embodied in our values, and quite literally dancing in the sunshine of our lives. Can’t wipe the smile from our faces…

It’s @vondove 's birthday, and I felt compelled to share the story of how we found one another, and the friendship woven between us ever since. Swipe across to read our story 🤍

A friendship forged through art, spirit, wildness, grief, death, dancing, travel, unfurling, creativity, loss, rebirth, heartbreak and the incredibly beautiful privilege of witnessing one another through it all.

Plus a tiny handful of moments from the many lives we seem to have lived alongside each other!

I’ve wanted to share this story for such a long time, it feels fitting to do it today.

Happy birthday my Von. What a woman you are, a force to be reckoned with, a multidimensional colourful wise playful flame burning so bright, weaving the most potent legacy and mark on the world, leaving no stone untouched. What an honour to be here at the same time as you. Thank you for meeting me in so many different dimensions of friendship and opening more doors to just keep expanding and discovering more. I was sitting with my dad one afternoon, it was in the few weeks after we lost mum. We’d become incredibly close over her illness and passing, and it was a hard but beautiful time that put a lot into perspective.
.
My dad’s worries about me - he’d worked hard in his life for what he has and he’s always wanted me to stop travelling and set myself up - ‘get ahead.. be smart, play my cards well’
.
But on this day he said to me “You know, I think I’m beginning to understand you and all your galavanting. Maybe you’ve had this figured out all along..”
.
He looked at me then… “you can’t take it with you when it’s your time to go”
.
I felt quite validated in that moment - never expecting him to understand me.
.
There are so many more important things that we build here beyond the material.
.
The relationships, the memories, these are the meaning makers.
.
We carry our adventurous stories & our deepest teachings like jewels to pass on to our children & grandchildren someday.
.
Do we ask ourselves what really weighs in when we sit before the closing of our lives?
.
.
Today is my 34th birthday and I feel.. SO wealthy.. In all the currencies that matter. Real wealth is a life relished and lived through. I have dared to dream, lost and learnt, followed my heart.. found what I think is the greatest gift - community, and made memories with people and places worth crying and laughing over..
.
.
My dad’s right “You can’t take it with you”
.
So ‘galavant’ to the places that call you..
..Cook with heart and feed it to those you love.
..Discover your favourite flowers.
..Drink the good wine..
..Drag the picnic, the wine glasses & oysters down the beach for golden hour with your friends..
.
Make the effort, and cheers to it often 🥂

Landing in a new home and christening the sun soaked living room with the first painting session. Painting with friends is one of my favourite things to do. I have become obsessively grateful for sunlight - my last place was a south facing home - beautiful, but no direct sunlight streaming in the studio and it really started to affect me, and my work.
.
But now we are tucked away here, and I suddenly find inspiration for this piece and the way it’s catching the ethereal golds, flickering with flamingo pinks and deep burgundy. This evolution of technique and style is slowing growing in the direction I had envisioned.
.
Plenty more art to be made this coming summer in the sunlight… by @vondove

You earn your wisdom.

There’s are part of you that wants to stay in bed in the morning,
And a part of you that knows you won’t find your highest self in the those sheets.

There’s a part of you that feels scared to try,
And a part of you that knows the only way to change your narrative is out on the field, claiming new edges of yourself with your bare heart & hands.

There’s a part of you that is afraid to have your heart broken,
And a part of you that knows that loving without reservation will stretch your capacity to find yourself again and again…

There’s a part that is afraid of failure,
And a part that is itching to make the climb and see the view.

The sweetness of reward is lacquered with risk.

The days we choose the self that keeps us small, amasses to a life of smallness and obliged, dissatisfied safety.

The days you choose something greater, life rewards you..

..You are given what you wanted,
Or the lesson you need.

Lessons only the brittle & spineless parts of yourself would shudder at,
But the Soul tastes it like nourishment for its evolution.

Taste it often: risk.
It will keep your Soul alive,
Your body bruised yet building,
Your mind inspired and active,
And your heart pried open. by @vondove

Vondove is a multi-disciplined artist & designer based in Melbourne. Her works are internationally exhibited & explore themes around our humanity and relationships, rites of passage, and a connection to what matters most in life. She likes to describe her muse as ‘capturing the simple yet sacred’.
