Some memories from last concerts with @neoquartet , that took place at @sinfonia_varsovia as a part of "Intrasounds", a series of concerts with my music <3. The concerts took place in a space/performative sculpture: “Anatomical Constellations”, created by @ewamariasmigielska (with my sound). “Anatomical Constellations” is a part of the “Polifonie” Exhibition, available at Sinfonia Varsovia X, until February 2027.

Neoquartet played 2 parts from my string quartet “Liminal Studies” and “Stimm[u](i)ng” for revesed cello.

The piece Liminal Studies for string quartet consists of four movements, each of which is performed in a different part of the concert hall. Each movement refers to a different aspect of a transitional state – “not yet here, but no longer there.”
The idea of “being on both sides of the line” is expressed on many levels: through the musicians’ gestures, their positioning on stage and in space, as well as the bowing technique itself. The bow is drawn on both sides of the finger muting the string, making the sound itself a transitional – a liminal – phenomenon. “Liminal Studies” comes from the same series of very personal pieces like “blacksnowfalls” or “September (The Next Reading)” #thedarkseries

Stimm[i](u)ng for reversed cello (2019)
The term stimming (self-stimulatory behavior) refers to a set of repetitive behaviors – such as movements, words, sounds, and looped activities – that provide a sense of security and protect against overly intense stimuli in the surrounding environment.
In German, the word Stimmung can be understood in several ways: as a mood, an emotion, or an atmosphere, but also as the tuning of an instrument or “attuning” oneself to the surroundings.

Tonight at @sluchaniereceptywne in Gdynia 🐟, I'll have the great pleasure of performing the second part of my Symphony No. 3 for 200 wireless speakers 🙂 It will all take place in the forest, by the sea, in an incredibly beautiful clearing. This festival has an amazing lineup and, above all, a wonderful concept for a festival dedicated to the art of listening👂❤️👂 on top of that, this is the first time when I will play my music in my hometown 🐡

Today in Gdańsk at Sonosfera Festival, premiere of "I still have hope" for organ solo.
"I Still Have Hope" was composed at the invitation of Natalia Szulga, curator of the Sonosfera Festival. At first, the proposal struck me as somewhat controversial, as I had avoided the organ like the plague for years and was convinced I would never write another piece for the instrument. I had always been fascinated by the sound of the organ, yet at the same time it seemed too challenging and too heavily burdened by its own history and religious associations. My first visit to St. John's Centre in January 2026, together with meeting the remarkably open-minded and adventurous organist Renāte Stivriņa, for whom the piece was written, completely dispelled my fears and doubts.

In 2016, I had my first opportunity to work with analogue synthesizers, generously made available to me by my then flatmate and friend Laure Hiendl. I still remember spending my first night with a Eurorack system, slowly turning the knobs and listening to the micro-changes in timbre and pitch. That experience fundamentally transformed the way I think about music.

The greatest surprise in the construction of the beautifully restored side organ at St. John's Centre was the set of thirty-four long metal stop levers used to change the instrument's registrations. In traditional Baroque organ performance, these stop controls are pulled out to alter the instrument's timbre. In my piece, however, I approached them as if they were the sliders of an analogue synthesizer, moving them by only a few millimetres while listening closely to the unexpected changes in sound colour. This technique of micro-adjustments made it possible, in some registers, to achieve as many as eight distinct degrees of sonic deformation. These subtle shifts affect the instrument's intonation—including beating and microtonality—as well as its dynamics, noisiness, stability, and the purity of its sound. This unconventional approach to the mechanics of the 1761 Johann Friedrich Rhode organ replica became the starting point for the composition. taken in Centrum św. Jana w Gdańsku by @voytek_blehash

Jana.

NCK - Centrum św. Jana, ul. Świętojańska 50
Otwarcie: piątek, 24 lipca, godz. 18:00
Wstęp wolny!

WOJTEK BLECHARZ „Symfonia Nr 3 na 200 bezprzewodowych głośników i 5 wykonawców, Cz. II «Sound Fields» (na 50 głośników)”

Artysta wystąpi w ramach BLOKU WIECZORNEGO 🌗.

Muzyka Wojtka Blecharza często redefiniuje tradycyjną formę koncertu i relację widza z przestrzenią, wykorzystując działania site specific, partycypację publiczności, elementy muzycznego i instrumentalnego teatru, przestrzenność dźwiękową, czy odniesienia do ucieleśnionej percepcji.

Część druga to opowieść o nieograniczonym dostępie do (internetowej) biblioteki istniejących dźwięków: od sampli NASA, nagrań terenowych do oceanicznych nagrań śpiewu wielorybów.

„We are on our way to becoming silicone beings, we are transforming from carbon-based to silicone-based beings.” (Pauline Oliveros)
