Picture of the Horsehead Nebula (Barnard 33) in the constellation Orion.
The dark nebula is visible as a small horse-head-shaped cloud silhouetted against the bright red glow of IC 434, an emission nebula.
The bright stars in the field belong to Orion's Belt, with Alnitak (the leftmost star of Orion's Belt) shining prominently near the nebula.
The red glow comes from ionized hydrogen gas.
