Sampling is the best way to make a final choice on a wallpaper💡

They help you to see the wallpaper in your home:
✨See the colour in real life, not just on a screen - digital photos on phones or computers look different than real life
✨See the design in natural sunlight and lighting as this can change how you see the colour
✨You get to feel the texture
✨Check out the pattern scale

We offer your first 3 samples for FREE (excludes shipping).

Featured are Wisteria Garden, Forsythia and Sweet Alyssum all from our @lauraashleyuk exclusive wallpaper collection.

What do you really need to wallpaper?

Heres the list👇🏻
1. Sharp scissors - ideally wallpapering scissors as they are long ✂️

2. A roller and/or a brush - you can just use a normal painting roller and a wide painting brush 🖌️

3. A blade or knife - make sure you change the blade regularly to get a nice clean cut 🔪

4. A straight edge - so you get a straight cut along the ceiling and skirting 📏

5. A paperhanging brush or smoother - you can also use a felt roller. Lots of great tools are available to smooth the bubbles and creases out 👌🏻

6. A seam roller - a great little tool to smooth those joins 🛼

7. A sponge - its so important to clean off the paste from the wallpaper and other surfaces 🧽

And of course your wallpaper and a ready made paste like our Albany Concentrated Adhesive or Albany Super Smooth Wallcovering Adhesive. Paper featured is Sea Tangle in Seaglass/Dune from the Chalk & Tides collection by @isabelleboxalldesign

You asked, we answered!

How you avoid white lines between wallpaper lengths?

Our wallpaper expert Alice gives you the top tips on how to get that professional finish!

White lines in between lengths are rare when using paste the wall wallpapers but when using dark paste the paper wallpapers it’s best to chalk the edges of the rolls before you cut the lengths in a similar colour to the wallpaper. As an extra insurance you can also paint vertical strips of the wall first where the seams will land.

Have you ever decorated a room and then stood back wondering what on earth you were thinking? 🙈 That was me with my son’s bedroom.

So it was time for a proper do over. Here’s the before, the messy middle, and the after, with Sunstone in blue by @albanypaintwallpaper from @wallpaperdirect paired with crisp white panelling. It finally feels calm, fresh and like it belongs in our home.

Ad

💡 Save this for your next wallpaper and panelling project:

Keep panelling to roughly a third of the wall height so the pattern above gets room to breathe
Choose a white for the panelling that matches the background of the paper, not a brilliant white
Start hanging from the centre of your focal wall so the pattern sits evenly
Order an extra roll and check every roll has the same batch number

Which stage are you at with your own room? Tell me below 👇

Ad|Sometimes it’s the details that make a room feel finished. 🤎

When we were planning Valerio’s bedroom, I knew I wanted pattern on the walls, but nothing too bold or that he would quickly grow out of. Something with character, a little traditional, and that could grow with him.

The Magnolia Home Hunter wallpaper from @wallpaperdirect turned out to be such a lovely choice. We used it above the panelling around the bedroom, and the soft sage and cream check brings just enough pattern while still letting all the little details in the room have their moment.

And that’s probably what I love most about it. It doesn’t feel like a “children’s wallpaper”. It feels like part of our home, and hopefully something that can stay with him for years. 🤎

You can order 3 free samples (shipping excluded) from @wallpaperdirect before choosing, and my code SCOT10 gives you 10% off wallpaper.

Which do you prefer in a bedroom, patterned walls or plain? 👀
