Check out my review in Counterpunch.org of Madeline ffitch's sprawling, hilarious, messy, and excellent new novel about, among other things, chicken-of-the-woods and punching fascists! by @waltersmelt

New Walter just dropped: nephew Ceejae Walter on Aruba to be specific, looked after by older brother Arjae and a bone dragon, and plentifully supplied with backyard mangoes, quenepas, and ocean. Then a long layover in Toronto, and home sweet home. by @waltersmelt

Beautiful times, folks, cliffs, and blueberries on Mount Desert Island as usual. (Not pictured: all the yellowjackets attacking my jampot at afternoon tea at Jordan Pond House) taken in Acadia National Park by @waltersmelt

First year of full-time teaching at BHCC done! One perk is students who give you a handmade sunflower doily or a sketch of you as some sort of anime animal named "Mr. Willard." Same tree, different year.

Plus a solo trip into the Everglades, complete with full moon, rainbow, and real BBQ (unavailable in MA).

And all on a day we went to war again. I'm grateful for what will outlast our empire, as well as much that won't. by @waltersmelt
