Tangier is the reason I went to Morocco. I wanted a glimpse into why so many authors and musicians I respect spent such quality time there. Tangier shared its mix of beauty, history, and grit… I loved it, and I understand. taken in Tangier, Morocco by @wandering.coco

The Atlas Mountains in northwestern Africa are a beautiful escape from the bustling city of Marrakesh. You’ll need a local guide for most things, including trekking, climbing, etc. - @within_atlas is a great one! Reaching the summit of Toubkal wouldn’t have been nearly as fun (or safe) without him. šŸ™Œ taken in Toubkal National Park by @wandering.coco

The maze of souqs within Marrakech’s ancient medina are filled with things you’ve always and never wanted. The sensory overload is intoxicating - sights, smells, sounds - all at once and nonstop. Actually, the mornings are rather quiet and peaceful. taken in Marrakech by @wandering.coco

No London visit is complete without a Big Ben sighting. Or perhaps overcast weather. And of course proper fish and chips, if you’re truly keeping score. taken in London, United Kingdom by @wandering.coco

Travel has always felt the most rewarding when getting to interact and learn about cultures that are much different than my own. I’m always so fascinated how differently we all live, yet how similar we all are.

A practicing monk at the Monastery of Saint Jovan Bigorski, a Macedonian Orthodox monastery located in the western part of North Macedonia, originally founded in the year 1020. To support the monastery’s efforts, they have a shop that sells homemade (or should I say church-made?) medicinal creams of all sorts… And yes, I did buy some. šŸ˜ŠšŸ™

Kotor has been a fortified city since the Middle Ages. Nestled in the Bay of Kotor within the lovely country of Montenegro. The narrow cobblestone alleyways were a delight to get lost in, despite the rain and tourist crowds.

Dubrovnik, Croatia is incredibly picturesque. On the gorgeous Adriatic Sea, the city has been a UNESCO world heritage site since 1979. Croatia is the only European Union country that we’ll visit out of the seven on this Balkans journey.

The view from Mauna Kea, a dormant volcano on the big island of Hawaii, is absolutely surreal. Tropical beaches and rainforests just below, freezing temps and snow above… is this even real?? The various craters are obvious evidence this land was built by volcanoes. And it still is… You can often catch flowing lava with a visit to the big island (it was sadly hidden during this visit, though!). by @wandering.coco

Jeddah is Saudi Arabiaā€˜s largest port city, located on the coast of the Red Sea. It’s a melting pot of global trade and the entry point for Islamic visitors going to Mecca.
The architecture is a mixture of old and new, as seen throughout KSA. The old district of Al-Balad, deemed a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2014, is getting a facelift as tourism increases, and it’s fascinating to see the traditional Roshan designs built in the 19th century, with intricately wood carved windows, doors, and balconies, come back to life.
