#Ward_Now has now reached its third exhibition. This time, I presented new paintings as part of West Pride Festival in Gothenburg, alongside exhibitions by incredible queer artists at Pride Park.

Meeting visitors face to face and hearing their thoughts and reactions gave me a lot of hope. Even though there was no financial reward, it meant a lot to share my work and experience with people who see the world in ways that resonate with my own.

A huge thank you to the organizers for being so kind, supportive, and welcoming, and to everyone who came by, spent time with the work, and shared a conversation.

Nine years ago, I found myself on a rubber boat , fleeing of crazy war in Syria. I was one of many refugees, but that moment marked the beginning of a journey.

Today, I’m honored to share my story through "As Far As My Fingertips Take Me" performance at the (O)utpost Flørli Festival 2025.
The Festival has brought me closer to incredible artists, some of whom I had the privilege of watching live, and I hope to meet them again next year. 🎭

Sometimes you need to scream to hear yourself. To know that you are enough, just as you are. To stop for a moment and take a break from chasing the next step, and the one after that...

To step away from the illusion of constant achievement that capitalism drowns us in. The illusion of perfection.

The beauty of being human lies in our unique complexity. In being unlike anyone else. In being beautiful as we are, without having to become a copy of someone else.

Balance, as you should!

The stone is not a whole stone.
It is a piece of a mountain built from everything that has accumulated.
Everything we carry,
everything we are told we have to carry,
and then, on top of all that,
we are expected to stay balanced.

What happens if we stop?

What happens if we allow ourselves to be bored, to sit in silence, and to do something without a goal or a result? Maybe when the noise of constantly having to achieve gets quieter, we can finally hear our own inner voice.

This work is not only about the pressure to perform and achieve. It is also about stopping as a form of resistance.

Några bilder från utställningen - Söders Smaker 💛

En utställning om mat, minnen och berättelser – sedd genom barns ögon.

Under projektet har barn fått utforska vad mat kan bära med sig: minnen från hemmet, familjens traditioner, platser, människor och berättelser från olika delar av världen.

Här är några glimtar från utställningen på GA torg i Helsingborg.

What if the sea was a creature that visits our city, stays for a while, then leaves, leaving some of its traces behind.

As part of my project with Söderscen, the idea was for the artist to give the bench a new identity. So I chose the sea and imagined it as if it had passed by and left a part of itself on the bench.

I made the installation across two benches: a fish head, a tail, a fin and a piece of the sea. I painted directly in the street using acrylic paint suitable for outdoor use, and cut the wooden pieces at Malmö KKV.

The work took around two days, about 17 hours in total.

The best part of the experience was working outside, with people stopping to talk, ask questions, or just watch the work come together.

A simple and really nice experience, and I’m happy I got to explore how the sea could leave its traces in the middle of the city. 🐟🌊

Had a really nice time leading an art workshop with @areejalmansory for a team of 10 people from IKEA at the art hall in Helsingborg

We played with colour relationships and abstract art, just letting things happen without worrying too much about the “right” result.

I always learn something from the people I work with. It’s interesting how the same colours, ideas, and starting point can turn into something completely different for each person. I think that’s one of the things I love about art — it shows how differently we all see and feel things.🌻🌻 taken in Dunkers kulturhus by @ward.zaraa
