🇨🇦 BC knitters — a little heads up!

Starting October 1, 2026, yarn in BC will be subject to 7% PST.

So if you have a planned project (or, let’s be honest, a few projects 😉), September 30 is the last day to purchase yarn before the new PST applies.

That means your yarn budget will go a little further if you shop before October 1.

Just wanted to give you a friendly reminder before the change kicks in!

And if you need an excuse to finally start that sweater… this is your sign. 😏🧶

I am definitely in my 🩷Pink Era🩷!

This Story colour way called ‘Wild Rose’ from @makermvmt hits all the right notes for me! A gorgeous pink base with highlights of blues, purples, corals, peaches, and hot pink! A perfect super bulky superwash merino wool for keeping little toes nice and warm.

Now I’m gonna have to order more cuz my stock is already used up for these Prairie Knit Booties going out to a store this month. I LOVE it!!! 🩷🩷

If you want to sell your handmade knits, you don't need to rely solely on Etsy, a website or a craft fair to find customers. 🙌

Sometimes it can be worth it to think outside the box, and these are all strategies that I have either utilized myself when I ran my knitwear biz, or have seen utilized by other knitters very successfully!

Here are 8 other ways to get your knits in front of people:

1️⃣ Facebook Marketplace
Try listing your knits on marketplace. This is especially great for local pickup and seasonal pieces like toques, scarves and mittens.

2️⃣ Local Facebook groups
Neighborhood groups, handmade groups, mom groups, community groups… wherever promotional posts are allowed. Try not to be too spammy, but these days people are all about supporting local small businesses when they can!

3️⃣ Collaborate with other small businesses
Trade products, cross-promote each other or create something together. And don't underestimate this one — other small business owners can become some of your BEST customers. ❤️

4️⃣ Photographer collaborations 📸
Trade a few finished pieces for professional photos. You get beautiful content AND exposure to their audience.

5️⃣ Sports teams
Team-colour toques are SUCH a good opportunity. Hockey moms especially love matching their kids' team colours. One team could mean 20+ potential orders instead of finding 20 individual customers.

6️⃣ Local clubs & organizations
Dance studios, skating clubs, gymnastics, schools, music programs, etc. Think group orders, gifts or custom team/club pieces.

7️⃣ Corporate gifting 🎁
Local businesses are always looking for Christmas gifts, client gifts and employee gifts. One relationship could turn into a much bigger order than selling one toque at a time.

8️⃣ Pop-ups inside other businesses
Ask a local boutique, coffee shop, salon, brewery, etc. if you can set up a little pop-up for a day or weekend. Their customers become your potential customers!
