Policy failures kill. The increase of exterminationist policies by both the Trump administration and our local government is killing people who use drugs. Failed policies based in the racist War on Drugs will kill people who use drugs and incarcerate so many more.

For those of us who use drugs and those of us who love people who use drugs, harm reduction is a beacon of hope in dark times.

Harm reduction came from the people who needed it and has been maintained by those same people. Administrations can cut funding and limit legal scope, but they cannot stop us from fighting to keep ourselves and our loved ones safe. Their policies will kill, and we will do everything we can to limit that

Please, support your local harm reduction programs. by @warmupboston

As encampments continue to be criminalized here in Boston and across the US, we hear the same tired lies recycled from 311 complaints to Reddit comment sections.

Swipe to read how science and the lived experiences of encampment residents expose these myths for what they are: excuses to punish people for being unhoused. It’s important to remember that decriminalizing encampments is just the beginning.

Everyone deserves more than survival.

Everyone deserves a home. by @warmupboston

Wound care is so important to us. Not only does distributing wound care supplies help maintain autonomy and dignity for unhoused folks, it helps prevent complications like endocarditis and sepsis that have killed far too many community members. However, supplies are very expensive. Your support, whether monetary or in-kind, helps us continue to distribute these vital supplies to our neighbors. Swipe to learn more about what we distribute and how you can support us, and stay tuned for a wound care kit assembly day coming later this summer! Help raise $2000 to purchase supplies for our wound care kits by @warmupboston

Can you help us raise bail / legal support funds for the unhoused? 🤝‼️

Unhoused people are often jailed for charges related to survival behaviors. Laws that ban sheltering in public spaces, loitering, and possessing drugs or certain safe drug use supplies are designed to target them.

Cash bail is often unaffordable to unhoused people, effectively trapping them into longer jail stays compared to housed people, with a median jail stay of 14 days.

➡️ Warm Up Boston is seeking funds to support covering bail / legal support fees for our unhoused community members. If you are able to contribute, please check out our Venmo (@warmupboston) which can also be found in our bio via the linktree ⬅️ Thank you! by @warmupboston

This week, like every other week over the last half decade, we distributed food, water, and medical supplies to over 100 people sleeping on boston’s streets.

Doing this takes a big logistical effort! We are truly a grassroots organization, all of our resources and volunteers come from the broader community (YOU 🫵). As the contradictions within the world around us continue to sharpen and things seem bleaker, all we can do is get organized. DM us to get involved! Come to a distro! Ask questions! Hang out with us!

We hear a lot about building community, but what does that really mean? Who does your community include? Time and attention is currency, especially under late stage capitalism when very few of us have the ability to spare either. That’s why it means so much to us when you ask to learn more and show up at one of our distribution days for our unhoused neighbors.

It can be nerve wracking to start something new, in any context. We’ve heard the feedback before from comrades of ours that it initially felt intimidating to DM or email and show up without knowing anyone else present. That’s valid tbh. Kinda hard to get a vibe check on a faceless emoji head. Our advice would be, bring a buddy! Or lean into the awkwardness of an unfamiliar experience.

What you DO know is what already unites us, our shared values of serving and empowering the unhoused community of Boston. We’re happy to give you a full rundown of what your time with us will look like on a Thursday or a Sunday so you know what to expect and feel prepared to put your (close toed) boots on and hit the road with us!

We also have lots of different options for what volunteering could look like! Reduced walking routes, remote options for if you’re having a low spoons day physically. Every capacity and capability is welcome and we’d love to meet you :-)

ALSO if you can’t come in person but you like what we do, we’d so appreciate a gift from you to our kofi! At the top of our page. Hope to see you soon lovelies <3

This past week we continued our twice weekly distros directly aiding the survival of our neighbors. Being unhoused for long enough means expecting everyone to forget about you, to give up on you, and abandon you. We know what being consistent means to the people we serve, which is why they can expect us to arrive at the same time on the same day each week no matter what.

We are anti-capitalists looking to carve out some breathing room for our neighbors. If you want to help make this project more sustainable we could really use your help pooling our funds for the people we serve. Five dollars would be do so much for our work! Links in bio. Or if you could help be a pair of hands at 1 distro each month you can message us today :) by @warmupboston
