On the RAV4, the battery is under a protective cover. Makes sense until you go to check on it (after starting becomes difficult) and see how much corrosion has accumulated sight unseen. Time to break out the mechanic gear and replace the battery (it's almost 10 years old) by @warpfactorfour

Being a new pool owner has definitely been a learning experience. Both of the pool robots that I depend on to help keep things running smoothly stopped working shortly after I left for burning man, so there was a lot of leaves and debris and algae in the pool when I got back. I finally have the pool chemistry back in decent shape, all of the filters cleaned, and both robots up and working. by @warpfactorfour

Turns out early morning is the best time in Palm Springs to work on cleaning up after burning man.

People are encouraged at burning man to eschew capitalism. Not in the sense of being communist, but looking at the world without thinking about transactions. Participants are encouraged to gift things without any expectations to their camp, the city, and people they meet. It sounds weird in theory, but in practice it leads to a lot of really beautiful interactions where people are kind and generous. These are some of the gifts I was given at this year's event. #BurningMan #Gift #OohShiny by @warpfactorfour

I saw a list of healthy habits to try and I'm adopting some of them for the next few weeks to see how they go. One of them is to journal how your week went each Sunday, so here goes.

My week started off with my exit from burning man and the long drive back to Palm Springs. I left our camping spot at 6:30 AM and pulled up to the house at 11:30 PM. The drive itself was pretty uneventful and I'm actually proud of myself for taking it slowly and not being in a rush. Enjoying the journey instead of focusing on the destination, because sometimes I'm too focused on arriving and less centered.

Cleaning up after spending a week in a very dusty place is a long process - literally everything has to be hand, wiped down in order to get the dust off. And what I'm learning about Palm Springs is that in September you can't really get a lot of work done during the day outdoors: from sunup to sundown it's going to range from 90° to 110°. But I did manage to pull everything out out of the RV and start the process. So that's a gold star.

Work was surprisingly like this week because my managers didn't want to load me up with tasks immediately after my PTO. Very thoughtful of them, so I tried to be very present to all the other members of my team and help and mentor them with their work. (I'm the team lead so I try to do this anyways, but especially this week.)

It's always tough to plan meals while camping - depending upon your activity level, you might be very hungry, or not. This was one of those years where I didn't eat very much during burning man, so I wound up with a lot of comfort food and snacks to unpack. I've had more carbs in the last week than probably the last three months, including cereals like Lucky charms and sugar pops. Yum!

(apparently I've hit the limit for how long a Post can be so I'll finish this in the comments below) by @warpfactorfour

My burner friends and I tend to bring a lot of outfits so that we have options depending on the temperature, our mood, and what survives the dust. This year I took a jacket that I had never brought to the playa before and it quickly turned into my favorite eveningwear. Something about the look clued people in that I knew what I was doing - I had several strangers tell me out of the blue"this isn't your first burn, is it?" No. No, it isn't. by @warpfactorfour

Ha! when I worked at Instagram, one of my projects was developing the verification blue badge for content creators. Now I'm being asked if I want one. #WhatGoesAround #BlueBadge #IEscapedMeta by @warpfactorfour
