War yoga presupposes the martial origins of the primal yogic tradition. While this is of deep Indo-European antiquity, its terminological roots lie in the RgVeda, where in passage 7.86.8 the term yoga-ksema is used to mean “harmonious adjustment.”In this sacred text, the warrior followers of Indra yoke themselves to the divine through action, drinking Soma before the frenzy of battle. The term hatha yoga, or violent yoga, comes to us from the Medieval Nath Siddha martial ascetics who practiced with weapons. It is the contention of WarYoga that struggle is the father of all things and that war, through necessity, requires a spiritual and metaphysical training in order that the warrior may wage the Greater Holy War against his lower self, allowing himself to be transfigured in pure action. This was recognised all the descendant people of the Indo-Europeans.Sacrifice your lower self to your Self. Fight the Inner War. Become a WarYogin. #waryoga #selfsacrifice #metaphysics #metaphysical #greaterholywar #wayofthewarrior #indoeuropean #hathayoga #nath #rigveda #indra #soma #martialarts by @waryoga

WARYOGA MANIFESTOWarYoga aims to map out and trace the great pan-Indo-European martial metaphysical tradition from the Indic and Persian to the Greek and Western European reverberations. The physical and spiritual practice manifested differently as the Indo-Europeans moved west. From the Vedas and Avesta to the Epic, Mithraic and Germanic mythos. From the wrestling of India and Iran, to the heavy sports of ancient Greece, to Roman exercitatio, to stone lifting, English bareknuckle pugilism and beyond to modern combat sports and submission grappling.WarYoga aims not to simply resurrect the forgotten arts, but to connect those that still live with their ancestral roots, creating a system that incorporates these elements for the modern WarYogin. This is the grand vision of WarYoga. It is the alchemical Magnum Opus, the great work, which must be completed in order to transcend.#waryoga #bullculture #indoeuropean #physicalculture #grappling #boxing #stonelifting #warband #solarpath #steppewarriors #honorculture #legio #kushti #zurkhaneh #wrestling #calciostorico #ageofheroes by @waryoga

The WarYoga system is a unique approach to training that combines principles and movements of yoga with elements of martial arts and traditional fitness. It is designed to cultivate strength, flexibility, focus, and mental resilience.WarYoga can be practiced by individuals of all fitness levels and backgrounds. It offers a radically holistic approach to exercise, promoting physico-spiritual transcendence. By incorporating martial aspects, WarYoga encourages practitioners to tap into their inner warrior while fostering a higher spiritual awareness.Master WarYogin Tom Billinge recently sat down with Joe Adams of Relentless Pursuit for a podcast covering Tom's life, his work, and the power of myths. He also expounds the tenets of WarYoga, giving context to this deeply esoteric practice rooted in Indo-European culture.Check out the episode now at the Relentless Pursuit Podcast YouTube channel, and pickup a copy of the WarYoga book via the link in our bio.#waryoga #relentlesspursuit #vyayam #hanumanstatus #strengthtraining #macetraining #gada #fitnessbook #fitnessbooks #indiebook #indiebooks #yogabook #yogabooks #yogastrength #yogin #kushti #pehlwan #clubswinger #clubswinging #workoutideas #ancientspirituality #vedicspirituality #vedicknowledge #vedicwisdom #tantric #alchemical #aryan #indoeuropean #indoeuropeans #sanctuseuropa by @waryoga

All of the WarYoga Prize Ring bareknuckle system is sourced and tested. Nothing is just made up without any basis. Years of studying manuals and accounts of fights, along with analysing thousands of images has lead up to the bareknuckle video course. To build strength for the clinch, focus should be on creating a strong posterior chain, a rigid core frame, and relentless grip endurance to break your opponent’s posture and control the inside space. Gorilla rows and towel pull ups build pulling power of the back and arms. Medicine ball slams develop explosive downward core power, and sandbag carries force the entire anterior core to stabilise under load. by @waryoga

I was listening to an old @raspberry_ape podcast where he was talking to @davidhornesworldofgrip about arm wrestling and how it transfers to Jiu Jitsu. I hadn’t really thought about quite how bicep dominant grappling is until that moment. Strength training for arm wrestling helps increase your squeeze. It makes pulling your opponents into your clinch easier. Both top and bottom games are improved with better squeeze. Arm wrestling training methods are something that can and should be added to the strength training of grapplers. by @waryoga

Varanasi-style Nāl lifts. The nāl is a stone tool used all over India. This is the way it is used in competition in Shiva’s holy city. Comment TOOLS for the free guide how to make most of the Indian implements I use. by @waryoga

The Haltêres were a piece of strength history that could only be seen in museums or in depictions of Ancient Greek artwork. Together with Tom of @waryoga we set out to change this and here is the result 🏛️These pieces are a faithful recreation of the historic originals. The design is based on real found and cataloged Haltêres. It was a really cool challenge for me to work with historical references and having an expert in the field as a project partner made the whole design process a great experience 🙏The set (4kg each, left and right) is cast from the same high performance concrete as my Stonelocks and kettlebells. Included is a little booklet detailing the history of these weights as well as 12 historically accurate exercises 💪I‘ll be posting more about these things in the coming days and weeks. In the meantime you can check out the store for more info 👀#halteres #greekhistory #strengthtraining by @waryoga

For the first time in over 1500 years a functional pair of haltêres are available for athletes and hobbyists alike. I teamed up with @kiba_berlin to create something truly special. The haltêres, Ancient Greek jumping weights, were used by ancient athletes for their strength and conditioning for almost a thousand years. These are historically accurate made by Kiba with measurements taken from ancient originals. We worked closely together combining Kiba’s technical knowhow and artistry with my extensive research into the haltêres. They are truly functional works of art that any collector would be proud to have in their collection, but can be used without treating them as precious objects.Get yours from Kiba and embrace the struggle. by @waryoga

Ancient Greek Pankrátion is not some alien style that would be totally out of place in a modern combat sports setting. The forms were determined by the fairly permissive rules that were not far from vale tudo. The surface was dug up earth, which made the form a little different as it had to adapt to uneven footing. by @waryoga

The sandbag is profound in its simplicity. It is a bag, filled with sand that you pick up and put down. When programmed in this simplest possible way it removes all complication. All thought. There is no contemplative element. Just the path of pure action. A simple path to the mountain top. Pick it up, over and over and over again. No thought. No mind. Just movement. It embodies the heroic path of pure action like no other tool. It has the least to wrap your head around. Pick it up, do that again. Put it down. No more, no less. We all get stuck in loops of chasing complexity. Often the most powerful transformation is found in the emptiness of simplicity. by @waryoga

Ancient Greek Pankrátion had its own supplementary training. Outside of sparring, bagwork, digging, rollling, and shadowboxing were all essential solo drills. Lifting special weights called haltêres was also done, but more on that in a future post (watch this space). In the palaístra, a pankratiast was expected to be able to put in the work with or without the supervision of a trainer. If you want to dive deeper, check out the book WarYoga Palaístra, available online and in some brick and mortar bookstores. by @waryoga
