Summer camp season is officially over at @winglukemuseum and we kicked it off with @bruceleefoundation CAMP BRUCE LEE. Honoring the legacy of @brucelee by teaching the next generation in the most engaging way possible. It was an honor for me and @haneckelberg to return as the martial arts instructors. This was my 8th year with Camp Bruce Lee and I can’t wait for next year. I always keep saying - we should do this more often! Thank you #winglukemuseum and #bruceleefoundation for having us, and thanks also to all the amazing staff, volunteers, and parents that make this opportunity possible for me and the kiddos! FIFA Neighborhood Scarves, 2026

A collaboration between local neighborhood artists. @eckel.tech, @millpil, and @wasabi_punk are honored to create a limited edition FIFA summer soccer scarf honoring the Chinatown-International District. The art collective transformed their previously submitted "banner" design into a wearable statement- "CID FOREVER," reminding Seattle, through years of activism and excellence, the CID is here to stay. One year ago, on Friday the 13th, @aeon_corvidae and I eloped. They say, “when you know, you know.” Some things just work. Aeon is such a special, amazing, beautiful person and I’m so lucky she came into my life. I just knew I’d be a fool to miss on this once in a lifetime opportunity. We’ve already worked through so many things, gone on so many adventures, and have so much to look forward to. Aeon’s also helped me turn inward to work on improving and caring for myself in ways I neglected. This isn’t just a flash in the pan, it’s a commitment, and one I make wholeheartedly. Each of us brought our different ideas, feedback, and ways of working to the drawing board. For example, Milly worked primarily in the digital illustration app Procreate, Han used Adobe Illustrator for graphic design and shape building, and MJ employed acrylic ink and various brushes and brush pens in lettering. The design process leaned on each person refining a design element (idea, sketch, background, foreground, patterning, lettering, etc) while honoring strengths and checking in about capacity. Our process was like crafting a quilt representing our friendship and love for each other as artists: overlaying, stitching together, and weaving our styles into cohesive banner variations.

We drew from the communal and collaborative history of the neighborhood to guide us. We asked friends and family with connections to the neighborhood for photos of their cultural garments, focusing on unique patterns and textures (a final banner would allow us to ask for more personal stories and fabrics). We drew inspiration from neighborhood textures and international patterns that can build upon our theme of threads, fabric, and living culture. We also connected with our own heritages wherever we could in the process. Han’s grandma was a garment worker, so working on the theme of “fabric” and thread of life made these pieces all the more meaningful – he could feel her inspiring the process, weaving her story into his. Milly grew up distanced from many Khmer traditions, so receiving her first red threaded bracelets from fellow community members in the CID has been a cherished moment of reconnection. MJ, a Filipino-American Air Force brat, channels his education in traditional comic-book mediums into words and pictures that represent his ties to martial arts (honoring his teachers) and his family of laborers and service workers. As a trio of friends from Chinese, Filipino, and Khmer American backgrounds who met while working in a museum in the neighborhood, if we had the opportunity to finalize our designs, it would be meaningful to flesh these ideas out through further exploration of community history and archive. taken in Seattle Chinatown-International District by @wasabi_punk
