What an honor for our Austin Wasserman to be in the company of so many of the world’s best minds in sports technology. In partnership with SUPERCOLLIDER ⚛️ - Toronto Tech Community, PRAKTIKAI, and Polar Labs, we welcomed professionals, sports fans, and technology leaders for an evening examining how data, analytics, and AI are influencing performance, decision-making, and innovation across the sports industry.AI is changing the business of sport in ways that extend well beyond the game itself, and that was the focus of an engaging conversation we had at our Toronto campus last night. The panel explored the opportunities and challenges that come with applying emerging technologies in elite sport, offering practical insights drawn from experience across professional leagues, high performance athletics, and sports technology.• Paul Beirne, sports executive and founder of the Canadian Premier League, with leadership experience spanning Toronto FC, Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, and the Toronto Raptors.• Eman Smadi, Data Scientist and Analytics Specialist at Own the Podium, supporting Canada’s Olympic and Paralympic sport system.• Estevan (Evan) Falcone, Senior Data Scientist at theScore, advancing AI and machine learning applications in sports analytics and fan engagement.• Austin Wasserman, Founder of High Level Throwing, developing AI-powered technology that helps athletes improve performance while reducing injury risk. by @wassermanstrength

An extra mph of OHV can be the difference between SAFE and OUT. 🥎💥HLT has been a part of my training for the past 2 years, and it’s paying off. I’m currently at 72 MPH OHV with my sights set on 73 MPH by Christmas! 🎯Check out a few of my latest plays at shortstop! 💪🧤 by @wassermanstrength

If you want to get better, you have to put in the time. If you want your athletes to all be on the same page, you have to train skills together. Thanks to the @indianamagicgold and Christina for always wanting to learn more when we’re in town! ⚡️#highlevelthrowing #softball #softballplayers #softballcoach #armcare by @wassermanstrength

The Scap Pull drill teaches athletes to create efficient scapular loading and connection before acceleration begins. As the athlete moves, the throwing-side scapula retracts and begins to upwardly rotate while staying connected to the trunk, allowing the body to position the arm instead of the arm positioning itself. The goal isn’t to “pull the arm back.” The goal is to create the movement that allows the body to deliver the arm into an optimal position for acceleration. Efficient scapular movement improves timing, connection, rotational efficiency, energy transfer, arm speed, and ultimately velocity while promoting better arm health.Athletes of all ages love this one because they can feel each of those elements. #highlevelthrowing #softball #armcare #velocity #athlete by @wassermanstrength

“Why aren’t they hopping only once and then throwing?” “ If you take that many hops, the runner will be long gone by the time you throw the ball” These are some of the comments we hear when people see this drill, but don’t understand what’s going on.The High Level Throwing® double hop throw is much more than a rhythm drill. It teaches athletes to create and transfer force the same way elite throwers do while improving timing, sequencing, and athleticism.Velocity starts from the ground up. The double hop teaches athletes how to create force, transfer force, and deliver that force efficiently into the baseball or softball—not just throw harder with the arm. This is not an in game throw situation-The double hop throw teaches athletes to create momentum before rotation. By learning to load, redirect force through the ground, and sequence the body efficiently, athletes develop the movement patterns necessary to throw with greater velocity while reducing unnecessary stress on the arm. It reinforces the kinetic chain by connecting the lower half, trunk rotation, and arm action into one explosive movement. There’s so much more if you want to read about it in one of our High Level Throwing books. We love doing this progression with baseball and softball athletes of all ages! #highlevelthrowing #armcare #velocity #throwing #softball by @wassermanstrength

One of the foundational drills we use at High Level Throwing is the Scap Pull Drill with the throwing-side leg forward. While it may look different from a normal throwing position, every part of the drill has a purpose.By placing the throwing-side leg forward, we intentionally remove many of the variables involved in a full throw. This allows the athlete to focus on developing the correct scapular loading pattern, improving rotational sequencing, and learning how to create force from the ground through the trunk into the arm without relying on momentum or compensations. This position teaches athletes to:* Create efficient scapular movement rather than simply pulling the arm back.* Feel proper trunk rotation and separation.* Maintain posture and stability throughout the movement.* Connect the lower half, core, and upper body into one efficient kinetic chain.* Develop the movement patterns that allow the arm to accelerate naturally instead of muscling the ball.Once an athlete consistently demonstrates these movement patterns, we transition the drill into the normal throwing position. At that point, the body has already learned the movement, making it much easier to transfer those mechanics into full-speed throwing. At High Level Throwing, we don’t teach drills just because they look different—we use them because they isolate specific movement patterns that are difficult to learn during a full throw. We build the pattern first, then progress to game-speed mechanics, allowing athletes to throw with greater efficiency, consistency, and velocity while reducing unnecessary stress on the arm.Any questions?#highlevelthrowing #velocity #armcare #throwing #throwingdrills by @wassermanstrength

⚾️🥎 Parents, here’s something to think about. If your athlete has never had their throwing mechanics professionally assessed, how do you know they’re reaching their full potential?Throwing harder isn’t about telling them to “just throw harder.” It’s about identifying movement patterns, building efficient mechanics, and creating a plan that’s specific to your athlete.A High Level Throwing® assessment helps us identify:✅ What’s limiting velocity✅ Inefficiencies that may increase injury risk✅ How to improve power, accuracy, and consistency✅ A personalized roadmap for developmentThe athletes who improve the most aren’t always the ones who practice the most—they’re the ones practicing the right things.Don’t let your athlete spend another season reinforcing mechanics that may be holding them back.Book an assessment today and give them the foundation they need to throw with confidence and reach their potential. Then join our velocity leaderboard and see where you measure up nationally!
