Let’s harvest hot peppers

From the first tiny buds in spring to lush green fruit through the summer, I’ve loved watching these peppers grow and change. And now, at last, they’ve ripened into baskets of brilliant, fiery red. 🌶️❤️

It’s harvest time! I’ll dry the peppers and turn them into homemade chilli powder and flakes—something delicious to enjoy long after the growing season is over.

This year, I’m trying something new: overwintering my Basket of Fire and Super Chilli plants. I’m excited to see if I can keep them going through the colder months and get them growing again next year. Follow along—the overwintering experiment is coming in another post!

Yellow tulips

Let’s plant our yellow tulips

Spring is for bright yellow tulips, and summer is for vibrant red geraniums

For the past few years, this front planter box has brought us so much joy and beauty—both from inside our home and out. Today we cleaned it up and planted this year’s tulips, and now we’re looking forward to watching them bloom and brighten our view in late spring. Then, when summer arrives, the red geraniums will take their turn bringing color and cheer. A little seasonal tradition that makes our home feel even more special!

Rotisserie Chicken - what’s for dinner??

Tonight’s rotisserie chicken turned into two cozy favorites: chicken noodle soup and chicken pot pie! I love making the most of every part of the chicken. The soup always turns out delicious, and sometimes I can a couple of jars to keep in the cupboard for an easy, comforting meal later.

The pot pie was just as tasty—I used a little of the soup broth to make a flavorful gravy. Nothing goes to waste, and everything tastes homemade!

Thought I was a pie expert until my raspberry pie leaked onto my pumpkin pie 🤦‍♀️
Lesson learned don’t bake 3 pies at once.
Happy Thanksgiving

One of my favourite ways to make salmon on the bbq with this topping that is so good, you just need to try it out.
Baked potatoes with sweet onion slices in between.
Chilliwack corn fresh from the farm, hand picked that morning.
