The Maasai here in Mosiro, Kenya many of the elders worship the sacred water. It the passage way to life. Here pictured are two elders holding their staff. Here is an interview with the head teacher from the Primary school in Mosiro. “She ran through the forest, beating all the odds until she found herself here.” This 10 year old girl fled her family home to receive an education the night before she was about to be married off.
Previous project example of how Water for Maasai impacts Maasia girls. These girls desire an education desperately and an education will save them from being married off by their families. The need for clean water access at schools in the desert regions of Kenya and Tanzania is current and a work in progress. Safe drinking water access is directly linked to the education of Maasai children. We are currently in the process of planning our next trip to Kenya to survey land for a future girls rescue center. The need is so great! “Do you ever wake up and ask yourself what is going on?” #awakening in your heart, mind and soul. All of these girls we spent time with desire purpose and that can happen through providing clean water. These girls are being saved from child marriage through being provided an education. Taking care of the land and honoring the Maasia traditions is doing the right thing. #maasai I have always known that doing something for someone without expecting anything back will always serve for the greater good of humanity. However I did not fully grasp how I would feel until my first water project in Mosiro. I learned that this act is like a boomerang that then comes back to help yourself gain an inner peace that is a magical state to be in! We do not wish to change someone but honor who they are and teach them that they have all the answers inside of them. I learned that by supplying basic needs such as water an individual will be open to heal and make a better life for themselves and their families. #dotherightthing #motivation by @waterformaasai
