Surfers @williestark @parkerabell and @tainocarson showed up to train this weekend during the @fii_freedive Waterman Survival Course in Puerto Rico! Big performances in static apnea, dynamic apnea and safety skills. Increase your chances of survival during breath hold related emergencies, increase your CO2 tolerance and be prepared to assist during an emergency. Train hard and stay humble. Solid crew and congratulations to these watermen! #watermansurvival #breathholdtraining #surftraining #fii_freedive @errolputignafreediving @martin_stepanek @rinconwatersafetyorg @kahunacarlos by @watermansurvival

Physically demanding nature of most water sports = high level of CO2 in the majority of situations. Good CO2 tolerance increases physical abilities in any exercise and decreases the urge to breathe. These watermen combined of surfers, martial arts athlete and freedivers all benefit from breath hold training and it’s very effective and useful and more importantly keeps you safe! Solid group of watermen in the class and congratulations to the students on their performances! #watermansurvival #breathholdsurvival #surftraining #watersafetyandconfidence @fii_freedive @k_flaherty1006 @djro_ @kahunacarlos @parkerabell @tainocarson @errolputignafreediving @martin_stepanek @rinconwatersafetyorg by @watermansurvival

It’s hard to put into words how extraordinary our mom was. She was the kindest and most loving person we have ever known — selfless and always placing the needs of others before her own. She truly was a saint on earth, and now she is at peace in heaven. She will be deeply missed by everyone whose life she touched. She was a wonderful mother and an inspiration throughout her life showing us how kindness makes a difference. She loved being a grandmother and loved her girls. She will be in our hearts forever. If you were fortunate enough to have known her, please share a memory or story in the comments. We love you Mom. Bryan and Joe

Service will be held at St Mary’s Church on July 18th at 10am in Cortland, NY followed by a celebration of Mom’s life at the Cortland Elks. A second celebration of life will be held on August 8th in Wilmington, NC time and location TBD by @watermansurvival

@tomfromlakenorman trained with us years ago and since that time continues to help build the tribe and bring new students together to learn to freedive. @bfoushee82 @gblinn @tarohart all came in with no experience and left the course with earned skills for safety and proper technique. Nice work everyone!! Big thanks to our captain @alancannella #watermansurvival #freediver @errolputignafreediving @tainocarson @el_squid @martin_stepanek @fii_freedive @rinconwatersafetyorg by @watermansurvival

I love teaching the Level 2 Freediver Course! Students humbly learn new skills each day, progress conservatively to stay safe and become more aware of their natural abilities underwater. We train together to fine tune Level 1 skills and add new skills to comfortably freedive deeper into sink phase beyond 20m/66’. We had unreal conditions in between swells, the sounds of whales on every dive and solid performances with new PBs for everyone. A big thanks to our captain @alancannella and congratulations to the students! #fii_freedive #watermansurvival #level2freediver @fii_freedive @mccaskill.sean @sammyjo_ro @abaarg @thetallflyer @tainocarson @errolputignafreediving @el_squid @oceanerfreediving @rinconwatersafetyorg @martin_stepanek @anywhere_n_everywhere_ by @watermansurvival

@djro_ from Ponce, PR and @captrasta from Alabama showed up with open minds, big smiles and two completely different experience levels. Four days later, both watermen put the skills to work, trusted the technique and delivered earned results. Proud of these students for their performances, respecting the safety training, and discovering what they’re capable of underwater on a breath. Thanks to captain @alancannella and great to have @sammyjo_ro @thetallflyer and @abaarg join us for the training. Nice work everyone! #watermansurvival #freediving #rincónpr @fii_freedive @errolputignafreediving @martin_stepanek @tainocarson @anywhere_n_everywhere_ by @watermansurvival

We kicked off the winter season of classes with a private Level 1 Freediver Course here in Puerto Rico. Chris flew in from NYC with an limited experience in the water and an open mind to learn. At 58 years old, he held his breath for the first time for 3:45 and discovered a whole new world offshore on the line with Level 2 certified student @sammyjo_ro Both students worked well together and it was an awesome class. Nice work Chris and Sam and thanks to our captain @alancannella #fii_freedive #watermansurvival #confidenceinthewater @fii_freedive @errolputignafreediving @tainocarson @el_squid @martin_stepanek @seakindlypr @oceanerfreediving @anywhere_n_everywhere_ by @watermansurvival

Instructor Week had it’s challenges with the surf pumping and the ramp covered, but it was an incredible week of teaching and freediving training for instructor candidate @sammyjo_ro and some solid performances throughout the week! A big thanks to Captain Alan @alancannella for making it work all week on the boat with the big swell. Beautiful conditions offshore and great crew..! #fii_freedive #watermansurvival #instructorweek #freediving @fii_freedive @errolputignafreediving @floridakeysfreediving @martin_stepanek @tainocarson @el_squid @seakindlypr by @watermansurvival

Dedication, commitment and persistence. @carobacardi joined us for the Waterman Survival Extended Course in Rincón several years ago. She did very well in the class and continued to show up to train for most classes after her first one. From the beginning, she was eager to train and open to learn with putting in the time in the water. Carolina went through Instructor Week with classmate @carl__brubach and she stayed the course long after that incredible week of training. Together with @errolputignafreediving and I, we helped shape Carolina’s teaching skills into what @fii_freedive expects at the highest standard. She is an incredible freediver and speara with a passion for helping people learn to freedive. A very big congratulations and well earned Level 1 Instructor certification for Carolina! Proud of you and welcome to the amazing family of FII Instructors! #fii_freedive #watermansurvival #freedivinginstructor #girlswhofreedive #freediving #breathholdtraining #puertorico @tainocarson @el_squid @martin_stepanek @floridakeysfreediving by @watermansurvival

Summertime in Puerto Rico and beautiful conditions for the @fii_freedive Waterman Survival Extended Course. Four days of breath hold training for these students putting together the skills for safety and performance…and a wake up call to their own natural abilities underwater on a breath hold. Thanks to our captain @alancannella for keeping an eye on us offshore and putting us in the bluewater.
