I foresee some fiddly lathe work in my future #framebuilding #mafac #modified #deepcustom #ranndonneur by @watts_frameworks
Come check these sweet @paulcomponent parts that just showed up! The moon units and the qr skewers are going on the rand-aero and the brake calipers will be used for test fitting and demos for customers who might want them on their bikes. There are some other exciting boxes that’ll be showing up soon so stay tuned for that! #paulcomponents #anodized #shiny #madebikeshow #handmadebicycle #framebuilding #transframebuilder #randonnuer by @watts_frameworks
Okay okay I promise these are the last pics of this bike until it has brazeons and powdercoat 😂 I should finally have some good time to make headway on that this weekend. That said I just could not get over these amazing detail shots from @johnprolly I also want to shout out Em @wzrd.bikes who built the Thomson clamp compatible seat mast topper. She was supposed to share the booth with me and Eva @liberationfab but had to have her chompers worked on 😭(go buy her stuff and help cover that). Still can’tget over how cool @made.bike was. I made some really rad connections, some with folks who are putting parts on this bike so be on the lookout for those announcements coming very soon. I’m really looking forward to next year, hope to see you all there!! xoxo 💕 #framebuilding #custombike #handmade #randonnuer #theradavist #transgirl #transframebuilder #aeroiseverything #madebikeshow by @watts_frameworks
Wow @made.bike was such a wild event! I almost lost my voice explaining the wide fork and seatstays but that’s a good sign at a trade show I think hahah. It was also so nice to meet some of the frame builders I look up to most and to have them be such wonderful people. I can’t wait for next year! Please enjoy these excellent photos taken by @huffy808foto and @dylanvanweelden and be on the lookout for even more photos of it and a tubing spec list on a certain internet blog that may or may not make people famous 👀 Can’t wait to get on a slightly less aggressive post show grind and get this thing finished! The build plan has taken a bit of a turn since talking to folks at the show so it should be even wilder than first anticipated. Ty for all the love and interest! ily 💕 #madebikeshow #framebuilding #custombike #seatmast #theradavist #paulcomponents #sram #transcyclist #dynamo #randonnuer #aero #trussfork #tradeshow #transframebuilder by @watts_frameworks
Y’all have been asking so here ya go! Some photos of the aero rando concept in progress at the @made.bike show. Come stop bu if you’re in Portland! #aero #randonnée #rusa #custombike #handmade #transframebuilder by @watts_frameworks
Leaving for @tourdebloom tomorrow but couldn’t help myself from brazing a little something together. I’ve wanted to go back to an outfront mount on this bike for a long time but my obsession with narrow rando bars left me with no clamping area for my old k-edge (which kindly donated it’s insert and bolts). This project was a nice mix of machining and brazing and the short time frame made for some closer to instant gratification than I normally get. Now time to wash the bike and pack up. Ps. I lobbed off all but the necessary length of my seat post to compensate 😂 #transathlete #framebuilding #accessories #garmin #roadracing #stagerace #breakfastracingteam by @watts_frameworks
Finally getting around to sharing photos of the first steel Watts frame, dubbed the Deathstick by the incomparable @megfisher. It’s got some shiny new stainless racks that I’ll take some photos of and share soon. Thanks to @wzrd.bikes for the nice photos and the great riding company. Photos from the trip will go on my personal account at some point, hopefully soon hahah. Also o’ve got two fresh bikes on the way! one’s primed and waiting for pain and the other is about halfway built. Can’t wait to share them! #framebuilding #custombike #touringbike #randonnée #bikepacking #trans #transframebuilder #4130society by @watts_frameworks
I used a piece of a scrapped downtube to make a pressfit bb removal tool. I love my Supersix, I just wish it had a threaded shell. Oh well, I suppose that’s part of why I have tool, to make more tools! #pressfit #cannondale #roadbikes #fabrication #lathe #repurpose #makeyourowntools #framebuilding by @watts_frameworks
SO EXCITED to announce that I’ll be sharing booth 138 with @wzrd.bikes and @liberationfab at the @made.bike show in Portland this August. So stoked we were able to make this work!!! #transframebuilder #transbooth #custombike #framebuilding #queer by @watts_frameworks
Here she is! Fully finished and built up. Before I get into the deets I gotta thank some peeps, @wzrd.bikes for all her advice and help, @liberationfab for letting me take over her shop for a morning, and @paul.kalifatidi for his incredible photos. (And all of them for being awesome people/friends) A few notes on the frame: The black is Sculpt Nouveau black magic patina, the DT logo was skillfully cut by hand by @lizzard_hands and then silver brazed on by me. There’s a stainless chainstay bridge that didn’t get patina-ed bc chemistry. It’s built from @reynoldstechnology 853 tubing from Torch and File, and @paragonmachine bits, which lends it a lovely, and lively ride quality. Now the build kit: somehow managed to scrap together a full @shimanomtb XT m8000 groupo, outside of the @absoluteblack.cc oval chainring. Other highlights include the @foxmtb 32 stepcast factory fork, @chriskingbuzz headset, and full @renthal_cycling cockpit from @fanatikbikeco, the tires are of course @reneherse bought from @cafevelobellingham. It takes a village y’all Feel free to drop any questions in the comments #framebuilding #steelisreal #hardtailmtb #bikepacking #queerframebuilder #trans by @watts_frameworks
