Lots of events coming up in Newcastle, including this one on Thursday 15 October for Newcastle Pride. At this event, and based on my research, I will discuss the opportunities and challenges of regional queer life in a digital society. I will then be in conversation with local performer Timberlina, who will share their experience of visibility amid some challenging times for difference. Drawing on local research and lived experiences, this conversation will examine how digital technologies are reshaping belonging, safety, and recognition for LGBTQIA+ communities in Newcastle and the Hunter, but with implications for other regions across Australia. This event is co-sponsored by The Australian and New Zealand Society of Criminology, The University of Newcastle Criminology and Criminal Justice Society, The University of Newcastle EDI Unit, Watt Space Gallery, and The Press Book House, Newcastle. Register in link in bio. BTW - it is also a great opportunity to catch the Night Flowers - the Damien Frost exhibition at Watts Space. See you there! taken in The University of Newcastle, City Precinct by @wattspace
