🌊 Plot twist: we sell surfboards too!

Pop into our #Newquay shop to find your next board. Or do you have a board at home gathering dust? We’d love to give it another chance to hit the waves. All profits go towards #SurfTherapy for children and young people across the UK 💙

🌊 When you’re in the water, on your board, having fun, it’s hard to think about what happened yesterday, what’s happening tomorrow, or what anyone else thinks.

For young people facing challenges, Surf Therapy can create that space. A chance to switch off from everything else, connect with others, build confidence and simply enjoy being themselves. And sometimes, that moment can change more than we realise. 💙

This #WorldMentalHealthDay help us create more moments like these for young people across the UK. Find out how you can support our charity: https://www.waveproject.co.uk/

🌊 Yesterday, we welcomed the team from @MooseToys to Watergate Bay to see our @waveprojectcornwall Surf Club in action!

It was a brilliant opportunity to show the team first-hand the difference their support is making and introduce them to the young people, volunteers and team behind our #SurfTherapy programmes. Moose Toys has been a partner since 2021, with funding through the Moose Toys Foundation helping 1,200 children and young people access Surf Therapy. Over the past five years, their team have also gotten involved in fundraising challenges, video editing, volunteering and more to support our charity.

Thank you, Moose Toys! 🌊💙

It’s hard to put into words what this weekend has become.
Back in 2009, we lost a sibling, my beautiful little sister-in-law and our best friend, Jess.
To honour Jess’s memory, my amazing mother-in-law created an annual surf competition here in Polzeath, raising money for @waveprojectcornwall.
What began as a way of remembering Jess grew into something so much bigger, with the whole village getting behind it and making it part of the fabric of our community.
This year, there was more love than ever.
Multiple generations came together and surfed across all the different categories and heats, little ones just finding their feet on a board, through to those who have been surfing forever. Friends, families and people who have known and loved Jess all gathered on the beach and the cliffs, sharing laughter, memories and catching up at the end of the busy season.
The love and sense of community that filled the day is almost impossible to put into words. What started from such an unimaginable loss has become a beautiful celebration of life, friendship, family and everything Jess meant to so many people.
Fifteen years on, her memory is still bringing people together, still creating something wonderful, and still making a difference.
For Jess. Always. 🤍🌊 taken in Polzeath, Cornwall by @waveprojectcornwall

🌊 What happens when you take Surf Therapy away from the coast?

Our latest research explores exactly that. Hear from our Impact Manager on why this question matters and how inland wave pools could help us bring Surf Therapy to more young people living further from the coast, at a time when children’s mental health services are under huge pressure and the need for effective prevention and early intervention is growing.

Want to read the full report? Comment WAVE and we’ll send it to you directly! 👇

🌊 As demand for children's mental health support continues to grow, how do we reach more young people with preventative support, in more places?

That's the question behind our latest research. We know Surf Therapy is one solution. But can it deliver positive outcomes beyond the coast?

Our world-first evaluation looked at data from 360 young people, across 22 coastal sites and two inland wave pools @TheWave and @LostShore . Every single measured outcome improved significantly in both settings, from wellbeing, self-belief and perseverance, to pride in achievements and connection to others.

We want to continue widening access to Surf Therapy while responding to the needs of different communities and settings. Read the full research to find out what this means for the future of Surf Therapy 👉️ link in bio!

☀️ Tomorrow, 23 September, marks the official end of summer. But while the seasons change, the need for connection, confidence and support doesn’t.

Across the UK, our Surf Therapy programmes are welcoming young people back into the water for another season of 6-week programmes 🌊

Cooler days, colder water, same mission: helping young people feel better, build confidence and find their place.
And we need your support to keep making that possible: you can donate, volunteer, share our work or shop out merch online... because we want to be there for young people, whatever the season.
