The best 10 years of my life, we built the house with every bit of passion, sweat, patience and cash we could muster.

We had "the spot" for all the kids to play lego, ps, movies, playground, Trampoline and all the crazy shenanigans of sword fights, water fights, zombies and army gang.

We just sold the house and we're moving on but damn! What a journey..

1st reconnaissance visit for potential water activities and circuit tour in the waters of Sevilla, Bohol.

Well, it was also my first time joining the team for professional work, and it honestly felt like a sponty trip. Just received a memo with a 6:30 call time at the kayak station to explore the waters of Sevilla connecting to the Loboc River, and that’s it. Not a detailed itinerary, just a “what’s your plan ugma? Sevilla ta, bisita tas tubig nila didto.”

But it ended up being a formal visit to the municipal hall to meet with some officials, plus a hike of about a kilometer kapin, all while wearing my paddling outfit. Pero maayo gani kay polo pud among uniform. Maayo gani.

Exploring this side of Bohol is a reminder that we still have not explored much of our waters, or even heard the stories they carry, the cultures they bring. They are just there, waiting to be explored, waiting to be appreciated, waiting to be protected. And I am grateful to be part of a team where everyone has a heart for nature and adventure.

This is the hope for the place. That Sevilla will have its own identity. It will not become another area where, as development progresses, it slowly loses its natural features and spaces. It will be another area where people from different walks of life experience and learn about Sevilla and Sevilla omsim.

It will be a place where farms continue to thrive alongside the river, where carabaos swim after a long day in the field, where birds of different colors continue to fly confidently above the river, and where the colors of the place stay intact, blue waters that are full of life and green riverbanks with growing native trees and crops. Structures will continue to be built by local craftsmen and through locally sourced materials.

This is our hope for Sevilla. This is our hope for the waterways of Bohol. by @wayne.mercer.50
