CAMP FRIENDSHIP!! Experiences like Camp Friendship give students the opportunity to get outside their comfort zones, spend time outdoors, and challenge themselves in new ways—building confidence, resilience, teamwork, and a belief in what they can do.

These are the moments in education that make a difference. Watching a student go from nervous to climbing higher than they thought they could is a pretty great reminder of what education is all about: helping kids discover what they’re capable of. 💙💛

In partnership with Wayzata Public Schools, the Wayzata Education Fund donated $25,000 to make this 6th grade outdoor learning experience possible. by @wayzataedfund

AFTER!! Welcome to the Gleason Lake Lasher Outdoor Learning Center 2026. We can’t wait for our community to use the space. From simple uses like reading outside to onsite visits during the school day, we look forward to memories being made here for years to come.

PROGRESS! @dorindesignllc spent the last week bringing our Outdoor Learning Center back to life. A new limestone boulder slab seating space within the gazebo was installed, sponsored by the @wayzataedfund through their grant program. The picnic table area is being revitalized with accessible pathways widening the space. Stay tuned for the big reveal 🌾🌳🌲🦉 by @wayzataedfund

BEFORE. Gleason Lake Elementary had an outdoor learning center that was constructed over 25 years ago. Built through funding from parents and the community, its maintenance falls under our Parent-Teacher Organization. Throughout the past year, we’ve sought out funding through our major fall fundraiser and the Wayzata Education Fund (@wayzataedfund ). We’ve been working all summer to restore this space and make it what it was intended to be; a beautiful space outdoors for students and teachers to learn and grow together. Stay tuned for more. 🌲🌳🌾🦉

GRANT SPOTLIGHT: Thank you to Michelle Jacklitch for her application for the Trojan Locker Room at @wayzatahs.

This spring, the Wayzata DECA chapter went to ICDC, and this allowed the Trojan Locker Room the opportunity to produce 60 custom high-quality and professionally printed ICDC shirts!

Working with the printing press has taught the Trojan Locker Room managers and committee how to design, set up, and work with the printing press. The managers and committee members developed real-world skills in graphic design, press operation, and more with the printing press.

One student, Louis Dang, says that the “Printing Press is a new aspect to the Trojan Locker Room, however, it has many opportunities in advancing the Trojan Locker Room with new apparel.”

The Trojan Locker Room is grateful for the grant for the printing press, and the skills that our various students have learnt with the printing press will carry with them long after graduation.

MEADOW RIDGE!! We are thrilled to award Meadow Ridge with funds for first grade math toolkits, thanks to Roberta Granberg. Providing each student with an individual kit allows them greater access and flexibility in selecting what best supports or extends their learning in the moment. While students already have classroom tools, by creating individual kits, they will have a new opportunity to engage with the tools authentically to explore and make their math thinking visible. COMPASS!!! Did you know that the Wayzata Education Fund partners with the compass program at Wayzata High School to learn from our students and continually improve? Thank you to Rohan, Tanush and William for their work and recommendations to improve our technology infrastructure. WAYZATA HIGH SCHOOL x2!! Congratulations to @wayzatahs Casey Zylla and Cory Knudtson! Mr. Zylla received a grant to support bringing back Newsbreak, the broadcast news program. We are thrilled to support journalism and communications. Mr. Knudtson received a grant to launch an Aviation and Aerospace program next year.
