WBOR Comp Team hosted their 4th annual ‘Masonboro Taplin Relays’ competition this past Saturday. It is an endurance version of the USLA Taplin relay event (4 person per team- one person per leg- paddle, ski, swim, run). Team captains draft teams to create camaraderie between beaches who normally compete against each other.

Athletes from Florida @volusia_surflifesaving_ & deerfield beach, Outer Banks @kdhoceanrescue , and Carolina Beach @cb_lifeguards traveled to compete with us this year! Thank you to everyone who made the trip!

Kicking off our Fall race series with our annual Masonboro Taplin Relays!

⚡️USLA NATIONALS 2026⚡️

Our Competition team sent a group of competitors to Fort Lauderdale, Florida to face some of the best guards in the country. These guards train year-round to be ready for their job and for their competition. Preparing for these events prepares them to handle the situations they face on the beach every day.

We are proud to represent Wrightsville Beach, and bring home 2nd place in our division! Thank you for all of the support, and THANK YOU to all of the guards who picked up extra shifts to keep the beach safe while we were gone! 🖤🏴‍☠️ by @wbor_comp

USLA Lifeguard Nationals in Ft Lauderdale Florida captured by the insanely talented @ellaewingphotography 🤩🫶

These are my badass teammates pouring their hearts and souls out onto the beach and coming together to clinch 2nd in the Nation overall in our Division 🏴‍☠️☠️🥈

It was personally the most difficult comp I’ve ever raced in, and I want to thank my teammates @wbor_comp for keeping me afloat when this ship was surely sinking 🥵🥵… you guys are what keep me going and hungry for more 🏴‍☠️😤!!

Also want to shout out all of my AGE GROUP LADIES @scubadivingilu @aliceinrunderland88 @robinnlang (& the others!!) for putting in the work and keeping me humble! You all crushed it and it was so fun racing with you all 💪!!
