2027 SCHOLARSHIPS AND TRAINING GRANTS

Applications open October 1, 2026.
The deadline for receipt of applications is November 30, 2026 at 5:00 pm New York time.
Applicants will be notified in February 2027, and awards will be made in March 2027.

SCHOLARSHIPS
Nine categories of scholarships are offered this year in marine conservation (basic or applied research), marine biology, underwater archaeology, sea turtle conservation, climate change adaptation/mitigation, oceans & human health, extreme environment human physiology, and journalism/graphic arts/photography/videography. They are intended to support independent research, field work, and conservation/restoration activities, as specified in the descriptions found on our website.

TRAINING GRANTS
Ten categories of training grants are offered this year. Training grants provide funding for diving and diving-related underwater training. WDHOF and our sponsors offer several dive training grants for both beginners to learn to dive and for certified divers to advance their skills.

These extraordinary women have each made a lasting impact on the underwater world through leadership, innovation, education, conservation, and service. We are honored to recognize their achievements as the Women Divers Hall of Fame Class of 2026.

The official induction ceremony will take place during the NOGI Gala Awards Banquet, held in conjunction with the DEMA Show, on November 4, 2026, at the Marriott Hotel in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Today, we mourn the loss of one of diving’s true pioneers.

Women Divers Hall of Fame is deeply saddened by the passing of Zale Parry, a member of our inaugural Class of 2000 and a woman whose courage, curiosity, and determination helped shape the history of scuba diving.

Long before opportunities for women in diving were common, Zale was breaking barriers. She set records, helped establish one of the first civilian hyperbaric chambers in California, became one of the earliest female scuba instructors, and inspired countless people through her underwater photography, television appearances, and lifelong passion for exploring the underwater world.

More than her accomplishments, Zale will be remembered for the doors she opened for those who followed. Her legacy lives on in every woman who dares to explore, discover, teach, and lead beneath the surface.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Zale’s family, friends, and the global diving community. Thank you, Zale, for showing us what was possible.
