Now that I've been called to the bishopric, this response is my greatest fear 🤣🤣

To be honest, even when I dread giving a talk in church, I find that the blessing of speaking is that I learned so much more about the topic and come closer to my Savior through that preparation.

"Aren't you afraid of failing? "

Someone asked me about lifing heavy....what if you fail?

There's a lot to this answer but one of the most important pieces is being able to fail SAFELY and what to do if the struggle is too much.

When it comes to back squats.... And in my life, the safest place I for me when I'm failing....

ON MY KNEES!

When I push the bar away from me backwards, I need to push my body forward....this will put me on my knees. This is how I safely fail a back squat......

When I'm struggling in my life and things are hard things are hard.... When I'm failing to live up to what I should........It's just as important to know what to do.....but the answer is the same!

Go to your knees. There's nowhere better to be when you are struggling or failing!

Jumped onto this trend! 😂

One of my favorite verses of all time. ⬇️....I initially stumbled across it at a time in my life when I was struggling with a specific weakness and feeling like I couldn't get past it.

This verse touched me so deeply.....it quite literally changed my perspective and my outlook on my life....as well as my relationship to the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

My friends, you don't have to be perfect! You're human and you have weakness. As we accept that, become humble, exercise faith in Christ and his Grace .....we will become strong.

Ether 12:27 "And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them."

What do you do for a date?

Years ago, when our kids were little, we had a hard time getting out for date nights... So we made a rule.

If we go ANYWHERE and we hold hands, we called it a date! That made so many boring tasks and errands into something more intentional.

Nowadays, making date nights is much easier but we still default to our rule.

Last night, the garbage and recycling needed to go out to the road for early morning pickup.

We were getting ready for bed when we remembered. We have a long walk to the garbage pickup location (1/10th of a mile). Instead of one of us doing it alone and taking 10 minutes, we both decided to do it together.

We walked the trash out and held hands the whole time.

It wasn't much.... it was silly.... But it was a date!

"You have no business giving me advice! "

I often say this to myself when I hear someone who is decades younger than me giving advice.

I think to myself, "How can you know the best time management strategies when you don't even have kids or a career yet?

" How can you speak to me about overcoming adversity and resilience when you are younger than my kids!"

" How can you tell me the best workout system for fat loss? You've never been overweight."

" How can you tell me the secrets to a happy marriage when you've been married 3 months"?

Then I realized how that sounds..... Why can't I hear these perspectives, be a little bit humble and see what good things I can get from the youngsters.

As I thought more and more about it, I realized that some of the best advice I've taken in regards to my physical fitness journey, personal struggles and spiritual journey have been from people younger than me......

The younger generations aren't dumb, maybe their experiences differ, but I truly believe that most everyone is trying to share something that has helped them. So instead of being selective because (in my opinion) they're younger and inexperienced.... Maybe hear people out and learn something.

True story...... In between sets, I do some of my best (and worst) thinking🤣🤣.

From overthinking my latest set and where I went wrong all the way to..... Some really dumb ideas for the next rep 🤣🤣🤣.

I do this in my life too..... I tend to overthink or come up with dumb ideas..... Fortunately, I have a good backstop in the Savior. He helps to temper the self criticism and the crazy ideas.

This scene was so powerful! Such a great message of Hope!

This is from the series "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power." These villagers are about to be attacked by an overwhelming Force of evil Orcs.

A young boy is in despair. Everything seems hopeless and there is not way to win. He asks his mother for comfort and asks her, to tell him what she used to say when he was having nightmares..... Then she drops this bomb! So amazing.

Find the light and the Shadow will not find you! "

There are days that I really miss these amazing people!

My Grandparents are some of the greatest people I ever knew. They are my examples and my heroes. I love them so much!!!

Each were pioneers in their own way and the greatest quality they all had.....they loved me! They loved and supported me when I was doing well but more importantly, they loved me when I messed up.

I loved this quote. I found it especially powerful as I'm heading to the temple today....It helps me feel closer to them.

Have you ever tried to have a conversation while running?

I wouldn't recommend it. You're not likely to do a very good job of speaking or listening because you're just trying to get oxygen into your body.... The faster you go, the more difficult conversations become.

But if you were to walk with someone, you can have some really deep and end up conversations. You will be able to listen..... And to hear as well as speak.

In our lives, do we walk with Christ or do we try to run and have him alongside us? There's no doubt that he can keep up with us no matter what speed we go at but the real issue becomes, can we hear him?

So my friends, let's try to slow things down and walk with Him. That's where the magic happens.
