Poster Safari – Zurich Design Weeks

we joined the pre-opening walk of the Poster Safari and proudly presented our collaborative poster. It’s one amongst many other great designs to discover throughout the city.

Our contribution is the result of a truly international team: starting in Bern with us at Studio Flux, the design travelled through Helsinki (@kobraagency), Seoul (@studioswisscottage), Diriyah (@wearebytwo) and finally returned to Bern – growing, shifting, and transforming at every stop. The final poster is now on display in Zurich and can be experienced in motion via AR to uncover the making process.

Poster Safari – Zurich Design Weeks

Yesterday, we joined the pre-opening walk of the Poster Safari and proudly presented our collaborative poster. It’s one amongst many other great designs to discover throughout the city.

We were very excited to see the work of our former intern Anna Oechslin (@annaoechslin.ch), who is also featured – we’re so proud of you!

‪@wearebytwo‬

The research journey of the Kingdom’s emblem began in JAX District—a vibrant hub for creativity across art, design, and culture—where the story of this enduring national symbol first unfolded.”The Saudi Emblem Archive”, presented by the Museums Commission at Al-Masmak palace museum, a site imbued with profound historical resonance.

The exhibition traces the emblem’s evolution from its early beginnings in 1932 to the present day, showcasing over 200 rare pieces—archival documents, manuscripts, royal artifacts, alongside contemporary artworks and design interventions—that reflect the emblem’s transformation across decades, from state documents and postage stamps to a unifying icon embodying strength, generosity, and prosperity.

The choice of Al-Masmak Palace is deliberate: a fortress that stands as a witness to unification, allowing place and symbol to converge in a powerful narrative of national identity.

▪️Official catalog of the National Pavilion of Saudi Arabia at the Venice Biennale Architettura 2025
“The Um Slaim School: An Architecture of Connection” forms part of a propositional pedagogy for contemporary urbanism in Riyadh, based on the work of Riyadh-based practice Syn Architects @syn.architects (Sara Alissa and Nojoud Alsudairi).

Contributing to a localized spatial discourse relevant to Saudi Arabia and the broader region, bilingual spatial terminologies are illustrated through multi-disciplinary projects and interventions from Syn Architects and the Um Slaim Collective.

The contents provide context on histories of urban development in Riyadh, including typologies of Najdi architecture, methods of spatial embodiment and situated practice. Artistic, sonic, and photographic contributions from the exhibition’s collaborators Laurian Ghinițoiu, Mohammed Alhamdan (7amdan), Maha Malluh, and Mansour Alsofi, as well as new essays by Syn Architects, exhibition curator Beatrice Leanza, and catalogue editor Ahmad Makia complete the volume.
