Basketball players!! Strong ankles matter 🏀

If you want to stay solid through cuts, landings, closeouts, and quick changes of direction, ankle strength and stability have to be part of your training.

Try these 5:
• Full-range heel raises
• Banded ankle eversion
• Single-leg balance + disruption
• Lateral bound to stick
• Reactive hops

Build strength. Build control. Then build speed. by @wearecomplexmia

Improve your game speed and be explosive coming out of the blocks! ⚽️

In the first 5 to 20 yards, force is king. You need to push out as much as you can and do it quickly, which means you need to move fast and get strong doing it

• Broad jumps: maximal jumps going forward to build power from a standstill
• Sled sprint: do both heavy/slow and light/fast sled runs to strengthen your sprint while emphasizing forward mechanics
• Heavy weighted step up: train your first step to get stronger and punch the ground aggressively

Staying “in shape” as we age isn’t the goal. Staying athletic is. 💪

Training should help you stay strong, powerful, mobile, and confident in the way you move.

Focus on these 3 areas:

Power + Velocity — train your ability to produce force quickly
Single-Leg Strength + Balance — build stability, control, and confidence on one leg
Mobility Under Control — don’t just be flexible, be strong and controlled through your range of motion

Aging doesn’t mean you have to move slower, weaker, or with less confidence.

Train for the way you want to move for years to come.

Golfers: Want More Distance Off the Tee?

More distance isn’t just about swinging harder, it’s about how well you can create and transfer force through your body.

Train these 3 qualities:

• Rotational power → create more force and speed through your swing
• Hip mobility → allow your hips to load, rotate, and transfer power efficiently
• T-spine rotation → improve your ability to coil and unwind through your upper body

The goal isn’t just to hit harder, it’s to move better, create more power, and transfer that power into the ball.

Train your body like an athlete, and your golf swing can benefit. 🏌️‍♂️ by @wearecomplexmia

Hamstring strength is one of the biggest performance and injury-prevention factors for runners.

Here are four of @michele_smithh favorite RDL variations

🏃 Single-Leg RDL + Knee Drive
Improves ankle stability while incorporating a powerful hip flexion at the top to better mimic running mechanics.

💪 Elevated Lateral RDL
Increases range of motion and challenges the adductors, helping build strength where runners often lack it.

🔄 Lateral Hip Band RDL
The lateral pull encourages a better femoral glide throughout the movement, making it especially helpful for runners dealing with hip pain or impingement.

⚡ Banded Bilateral RDL
The band reinforces a proper hip hinge during the lowering phase while adding accommodating resistance on the way up for greater strength development.

Strong hamstrings don’t just make you faster, they improve running efficiency, absorb force more effectively, and help reduce injury risk.

Which variation are you adding to your training? 👇 by @wearecomplexmia

Performance Testing with Columbus High basketball 🏀

It’s important to assess athlete performance before and throughout the season. This info is helpful for:

-Measuring current level of performance and setting baselines for future reference
-Understanding how each athlete compares to their peers as well the standards of those performing at higher levels
-Determining each athlete’s strengths and weaknesses as they pertain to their sport and position
-Setting performance goals to achieve in order to maximize athlete performance throughout the season

Here we are testing Columbus High School basketball before the season to show the players where they are now and where they need to be going into the season

In rehab after an injury before getting back to running we focus on:

• Strength before impact. Build the capacity to absorb force before asking your body to handle thousands of steps.

• Control before speed. Master balance, stability, and single-leg control before chasing faster paces.

• Mechanics before volume. Move well first. Good running mechanics lay the foundation for lasting progress and fewer setbacks.

Returning to running isn’t just about logging miles—it’s about preparing your body to handle them.

Train smart now so you can keep running later. 💪🏃‍♂️ by @wearecomplexmia
