A little silviculture outing today with @ubcmsfm 🌲

Spent the day exploring @malcolmknappresearch getting the students to Observe, Infer, Explain and Predict what they see in the forest and how their observations might reflect or predict different silvicultural treatments.

Stop 1️⃣ Looking at what Malcolm Knapp has called a ‘not so clear cut’ - clear cut with 30% and 10% retention

Stop 2️⃣ Density trials looking at western red cedar and Douglas fir at 3x3, 6x6, 9x9 and 12x12 spacing.

It was a great day and can’t wait to be back in a few weeks!
