A displaced child’s nervous system doesn’t get to rest.
Their imagination, their memory, their sense of identity- all suppressed by chronic stress.

And art is how it comes back.

This is why Revive Baladna exists.

When I was 12, this was our shelter.

Returning to it as an adult, I felt my heart pound and my breath catch in my throat.

Even when writing this post, my heart rushes. 😢

BUT my art journey started here.

That is why I went back. And that is why I built Revive Baladna.

Art offers children a vital avenue for self-expression, something that can never be lost or taken away. It gives children a way to process and communicate what words alone cannot hold.

$100 funds one child’s full creative healing workshop and a Creative Recovery Kit they keep.

Give today, if you can. Or share this with one person who might.

When I was 12, I was a child in a shelter.

War had taken everything familiar. And in the middle of all that uncertainty, art became my only certainty.

Not a hobby. Not a distraction.
The one thing that was still mine.

I am Lebanese-American. I know what it means to be a child reaching for a pencil when the world outside makes no sense.

That is why I built Revive Baladna.

A 10-year-old named Nour used to fill entire notebooks with drawings: houses, trees, her cat. Since the war, she hasn’t picked up a pencil. “She just stares,” her mother says.

I was Nour once. And art gave me a way back.

Art reduces stress. It helps children process what words can’t hold. For kids living through conflict and displacement, it isn’t extra - it’s how they survive.

When home with my Queen… 🇱🇧 by @weeda.art

Our closing night celebration of Enduring Colors was filled with joy, hope, and connection. ❤️

We gathered to create paintings rooted in Palestinian and Lebanese culture, alongside collages inspired by Jaffa’s oranges. Our friends at @bahibrews custom-made lattes and lemonades inspired by Libyan and Algerian cultures and flavors, perfectly complementing the za’atar and manakish from @sabaskitchenoc.

We are eternally grateful to @pcrf_laocie , @marvistavoice , and @asian_youthcollective for tabling, sharing resources, and creating meaningful ways for our guests to take action.

Once again, @yarakhalifeh12 from @mawtinichoir blew us away with her beautiful voice, while singer-songwriter @alianna.tv Alianna inspired us with her songs of hope.

We heard from @calstatela Latin American Studies Professor Alex Villalpando about the importance of genocide studies and awareness, the interconnectedness of our struggles, and collective liberation.

@salamisarah shared her monologue, moving us while connecting us through laughter. Her genuine presence, passion, and authenticity are what make Enduring Colors shine.

@thedudewiththeoud energized us through his live performance, @sofia_naseem created beautiful henna designs, and @thezaatarkitchen brought authentic flavors of the Levant to our community. Through her handmade candles centered around Palestinian culture, @yummacandleco Dina’s light emanated throughout the night.

We closed with gallery conversations featuring @weeda.art @akramfrompalestine and @salamisarah , exploring how art and liberation intersect across human rights issues, from gender-based violence to medical evacuation and treatment.

To our children in the show, not only have you changed our lives and touched our hearts, but you’ve brought us together and reminded us of what truly matters, the power of community and our collective humanity. Loving and knowing you will always be the greatest honor.

And to Gabe, owner of Midnight Books Los Angeles, thank you for always believing in Enduring Colors and cultivating this vibrant community.

Stay tuned for incredible news about what’s next for Enduring Colors. ❤️

Art allows children to emotionally regulate when living in distressed environments.

Join us to reach our 300 child-goal. They deserve access to the arts as a means to understand the chaotic world around them.

Because art is never just a static object; it is a pause, a feel, and a step outside of linear time.

Pushing past the 3D plane w/ light and texture to explore time, perception, and physics blending into each other.
