🤔 If you missed the first W.I.P. Sessions of the season, these are just little peeks behind the curtain while I finish this project.No polish. No finished product. Just documenting the work. 📹Today’s notebook session is from a joint I’m tentatively calling “Point Your Finger.” (Yeah… I accidentally said “Point Your Fingers” in the video 😂.) (think Scarface Tony in that scene in the restaurant towards the end of the movie iykyk)Different energy than the last idea, “You Are Not Alone” from the other day…. wayyyy different actually lol 🤷🏾‍♂️This one’s a little more confrontational.It’s about that resistance you feel from people… dique “haters,” the powers that be, the system… whoever, whatever. 🗽 Dear New York City,Thank you for reminding me who you are. ❤️I called this city home for over 20 years. Somewhere between the trains, the rent, the hustle, and just trying to make it, it’s easy to forget what’s underneath all of that.Last week was a reminder.Not because the Knicks finally won the ‘Chip after 53 years. Because of what it brought out of the people.Everywhere I went I kept hearing the same thing:“I’ve never seen the city like this.”Neither have I.I’ve seen New York collectively go through stuff like the tragedy of 9/11. I’ve seen us lean on each other through citywide moments like the chaos of The Blackout of 2003. And I’ve seen the quiet, everyday relentless push & resilience it takes just to make it in the biggest city in the heart of the American empire.But I don’t know if I’ve ever seen the city come together around JOY like this.Complete strangers were talking & laughing like old friends.. Smiling at each other on the train. Dancing in the streets. Hanging out of apartment windows, off of scaffolds, standing on garbage trucks & cop vans (👀 TSDW ⚠️👀).🫥For a few days, the city felt like one big block party.Maybe that’s what we’ve been craving all along.Not just something to celebrate…Something to celebrate together.
