Opada silk saree ..

Every saree has a story of its own, and the story behind this one is truly beautiful. ❤️

Last year, just before Durga Puja, a friend of mine suddenly sent me pictures of two sarees and asked which colour combination I liked better. As a handloom consultant, I often receive such messages, so I answered quite naturally, from a professional perspective, that the orange and pink combination was the prettier one. 🧡🩷

A little later, I was asked for my address, and that was when I understood why I had been asked to choose between the two sarees!

But the most fascinating part of this story is that my friend Satya and I have never seen each other in person, nor have we ever heard each other's voices. For the past five years, our conversations have been limited to WhatsApp, yet a beautiful bond has grown between us.

Through my work, I have received so much, but perhaps the greatest gift has been the companionship of people who, despite being physically distant, always find a way to stand by my side. Some connections beautifully remind us that distance can never diminish the warmth of a genuine bond. ❤️

I had been waiting for a special occasion to drape this special saree, and today, I am truly happy to finally wear it and honour the love and thoughtfulness behind it.

Some gifts are precious not just because of what they are, but because of the emotions and relationships woven into them. And this saree will always remain a beautiful reminder of one such bond.

Traditional Bomkai is not considered an Ikat weave, but since the border of this particular saree is woven using the Ikat technique, I chose it for today’s #ikatseries for @weaves.n.wavelengths and #ikatishqwednesdays for @shruthi_ikatishqwednesdays

This saree was a gift from my husband on our first anniversary in 2006. ❤️ After being tucked away in my wardrobe for so many years, I finally wore it today—and I’m so happy to bring this beautiful old memory back to life. 🥰🥰

People may leave, but memories remain—beautifully preserved, like old photographs, carrying stories and emotions from another time. ❤️
