No fancy uniform needed! Just weather appropriate clothing, and sunscreen and bug spray applied before drop off.

In the warmer months that looks something like: shorts & a tshirt or a dress. Sandals, water shoes or sneakers, and a hat if your Wildling likes to wear one!

Just a ONE more sleep until @wegrowwildlings classes are back in session. We can’t wait to see all our Wildlings!!

You don’t need to pack much! A full leak proof water bottle, and plenty of snacks/lunch are essential. A hat, water shoes or sandals, and an extra pair of clothes also come in handy… especially if your Wildling loves water or mud play 🙌😅

And be sure to bring your curiosity and wonder!

🌧️ What’s better than a rainy day spent puddle stomping and exploring the outdoors with friends?! 🥰

At Wildlings, we adhere to the Forest school gold standard of believing there is no such thing as “bad” weather, there’s just poor preparation.

So when the forecast calls for a wet and wild week, we boot up, put on our rain jackets (if we want to), and enjoy the break from the hot fall temps we typically experience! 😎☔️

And of course, if the radar says lightening is coming, we seek shelter and find WILD ways to play under the safety of people habitats ⚡️😋⚡️

I want to raise my children (and yours) in a community of loving, caring individuals… people who show them that kindness is something we practice daily, courage can be gentle, and everyone’s boundaries matter.

I hope they grow up competent and kind, brave and considerate, enthusiastic and mindful. Kids who are willing to try, comfortable asking for help, curious about the world, and thoughtful about the people and creatures sharing it with them.

And I hope their childhood is full of muddy feet, shared discoveries, big feelings, little adventures, and caring grown-ups cheering them on as they find their way.

That’s the kind of village I want to help build: one where we show up for each other and raise our children together. Wildly aligned, growing together. 🌿🤎 by @wegrowwildlings

Dangerous things carefully.

Safety is our #1 priority but that doesn’t show up by limiting what kids can do. Instead we maintain low ratios so adults can allow kids to do dangerous things carefully.

Today’s lesson plan: explore, accidentally meet a tiny jellyfish, declare it the best day ever, and leave with a new mystery to solve. 🪼

That’s my forest school why. Being outdoors immerses us in the living world, where discoveries happen organically and curiosity gets to lead. Some days we meet amazing local creatures; other days we spot an invasive species and switch on our Planet Protector powers to learn how we can help restore a little balance.

Hey, friends @tampabaywatch Can you help us figure out what kind of jellyfish this is? We think the conch is a crown conch, is that right, too? We love learning new things with our friends, and we can’t wait to bring what we find out back to the wildlings next week!

The wild world is full of surprises. We get to meet them, wonder about them, and learn how to care for them together. That’s my why.

What’s your forest school WHY? Share it with us in the comments! taken in War Veterans Memorial Park by @wegrowwildlings

POV: You’re minding your own business when a tiny assassin lands on your hand to finish its lunch. 🫠

This looks like a paper wasp, and it appears to be working on a caterpillar or other small insect. Paper wasps hunt soft-bodied bugs to feed their young, and build their papery nests by chewing wood fibers into pulp. Tiny predator, tiny construction crew. 😳

Nature is beautiful. Nature is metal. And apparently, I’m a lunch table. 🌿🍽️ by @wegrowwildlings

Ohh those bins! Perfect for containing messes but these kiddos were never meant to stay clean.

All this texture out in the wild… this is information!

Little hands and growing brains learn through touch, through the mud, the sand, the bark, the leaves. All the textures a sensory bin just can’t fake.

Dirt and real water carry something man made items never will. A living current, an energy running straight through the earth. One we were never meant to be this far from.

Our wildlings already know this. They run toward it every day!

If you have a Wildling wanting more opportunities to get messy, we’d love for them to come spend time with us!

We still have a few spots open for some of our fall classes, with days and locations across the Tampa Bay Area!
