Time & time again, we see the same process over and over . . . And overrrr

Everyone gets super motivated to kick the year off with their fitness journey, just to be right back at square one

Why is that? Well it can be a plethora of things but IMO the greatest one is habit

You must first build the habit in order for it to be sustained, most attempt to go 0-100 and that is usually what makes them quit!

To think you are going to just start going to the gym everyday starting Jan 1st after you haven’t worked out in years is a big leap & it’s guaranteed burnout

You’re making it hard for yourself with this approach, what you should do is put a system in place that you can easily stick to and gradually build upon the foundation you’ve set

This way you are building the habit of going to the gym and being active without being overwhelmed

It’s a lifestyle, treat it as such . . . You don’t build a new lifestyle overnight by @weightroompleezy

I was training years before this point but I didn’t make it much of a priority once I stopped playing sports 😬

This is why I truly believe simple fitness goals such as a “weight loss goal” or wanting to “Tone up” isn’t enough to keep most going 🎯

Your why has to have meaning, it has to be connected to a bigger purpose ✅

Getting results & keeping results takes an absolute lifestyle change, most only want to do what’s necessary until they hit their goal . . . If they hit that goal! ‼️

Fitness really can & will change your life if you stay committed . . . Exercising is literally a meditation/mindfulness 🔐

I locked in during a dark time and became a better man throughout the process 🖤

Find your purpose, find your why & LOCK IN!!! 🙏🏽

Outside of playing sports growing up this is where the fitness journey started for me 🐺

Just about 12 yrs ago, I don’t count the first few years because I barely knew what I was doing 😭

I went to college for a short period of time and picked up what they call the freshman 15

this left me with the “Skinny Fat” look

At that point I started going to the gym on campus, I was doing primarily ab work 😭 (rookie move) but I did see minor results

That gym run didn’t last long, fast forward few years later

I started going to a not so great local church gym that barely had anything in it, it got the job done though

I would only benchpress, do pull ups, push ups and hit the punching bag

Oh & run 😂 I at least always knew cardio was important

I was still inconsistent at this point & finally decided to get serious and make it a PRIORITY

So after some time, I decided to get a trainer

These are the start of the years I actually count:

I learned quick that strength training vs playing sports are 2 totally different things

This go around with the gym started as an outlet for me, a way to release my frustrations and keep me busy (out of trouble)

When I started training my freedom and livelihood was on the line

unfortunately, I had law troubles & l honestly did not know where life was headed but I knew l’d get through it

The gym helped me transition into a better me, l became a new man throughout this stage of life (IYKYK)

It’s not all due to the gym but the gym played a major role in my life progression

By the grace of god, I was able to put those troubles behind me & now I get to do what I do best

HELP PEOPLE!

Fitness has become a lifestyle & now I get to teach people just like you to make it a lifestyle as well

In a way that it is easily digestible

Hopefully this motivated at least one person to get active & STAY ACTIVE!!

The benefits are beyond physical ⚡️

Comment “CHANGE” if you’re ready to enhance your life 🙏🏽 by @weightroompleezy

This running journey and the community itself has blessed me in ways I cannot explain

I’m really just grateful to be here, a lot of my people haven’t made it here and I hate that 🙏🏽 life was very different at one point in time

It’s a blessing to be able to let go of things and be yourself, experience life and live honest inside of your own world

Overall! My first PRR was amazing, the vibes, the people, the energy!! Cheers to many more ⚡️

Sn: it was a bad race performance wise but an amazing time.

Although I under performed, I still hit a 5min PR from last my 10k (Charlotte ATC)

Coming off of an injured training block, I will take it by @weightroompleezy

Peachtree will be my 2nd 10k since my first which was Charlotte around the crown Sept of last year! Obviously I’ve ran many 10k’s since then during training but I am here to appreciate the progression.

First 10k whooped me, Yesterday we ran the Peachtree route and look at the time difference! That’s at training pace so excited to see what we pull off RACE DAY!!!

We got plenty more to go 🔥🔥🔥 by @weightroompleezy

We showed up, we did the work ⚡️🐺 Ok lame cool sounding caption out the way . . . Let’s move on ⬇️

First official Half Marry in the books right at Home!!! I love my city and the community we’ve started with endurance sports . . . We got more to go 🫡

We PR’d twice, I ran my fastest 10k during this race and also completed first half marathon at 1:50 (Goal was 1:45, I think I would’ve gotten closer if I would have paced around the hills)

All in all I am cool with my results!! I’m ready to get right back to work for Peachtree!!

QUICK RACE THOUGHTS

- the cheer stations were crazy 🔥🔥
-ppl get clever with those signs
- my right foot randomly went numb at like mile 5-8
- my left shoulder was killin me after the finish dk why
- maple syrup goes crazy 🤷🏽‍♂️
- scenery was lit, we gotta run the full back
- I still have to remind myself I only been in running stuff for a little over a yr by @weightroompleezy

B Race Completed (Miami Hyrox), Nashville Up Next 🫡 this race was a paced approach & strictly for Data

First solo race and it taught me a ton!!! There’s always more work to do

Now I have something to train off of! Onto the next one! 🐺

A post regarding fitness/race mindset stuck with me and I feel it is perfect for this moment & maybe to you!

ATTACHMENT DESTROYS EXECUTION - @thebayensmethod (Credit)

A race is nothing more than a point in time to express the fitness you’ve built.

That’s it.

It’s not who you are.
It’s not your worth.
It’s not your identity.

Fitness, at its core, is your ability to tolerate and respond to stress.

Race day is simply another stressor—one you’ve prepared for.

But here’s where most people go wrong:

They attach outcome to identity.

A time.
A placing.
Beating someone they saw on social media.

And in doing so, they turn the race into a threat.

The body doesn’t distinguish between pressure and danger.

Perceived threat → sympathetic overdrive
Excess adrenaline and noradrenaline
Muscle tension rises
Coordination drops
Execution falls apart

You don’t rise to the occasion-you regress to disorder.

l’ve seen it countless times.

Athletes who are fit enough to perform... but too attached to the outcome to express it.

The best racers don’t chase the result.

They remove themselves from it.

They trust the work.
They stay relaxed.
They let the fitness show.

Detachment isn’t a mindset trick.
It’s a performance advantage.

Race the process.
Let the result take care of itself. by @weightroompleezy
