The Frederick R. Weisman Art Foundation is honored to be included in the Willem de Kooning exhibition at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. The exhibition marks 100 years since Willem de Kooning left Rotterdam for the United States. Bringing together more than 120 works, the exhibition traces the development of De Kooning's drawing practice across more than 65 years. From his early work as a student to the spontaneous charcoal sketches, these drawings will be presented in dialoge with the paintings and sculptures that contributed to his place in the history of modern art.

We're excited to have two works from the Foundation's collection featured in the exhibition:

Pink Angels, c. 1945
Untitled (Still Life), c. 1945

De Kooning's work returns to the Netherlands this fall at the @rijksmuseum

On view from 09 October 2026 – 17 January 2027

Another installation view from Willem de Kooning: Drawing at the Art Institute of Chicago.

Bringing together nearly 250 works spanning the early 1920s through the 1980s, this landmark exhibition highlights the vital role drawing played throughout Willem de Kooning’s career. As the first exhibition dedicated to exploring the full breadth of his drawing practice, it offers a rare look at how drawing informed every stage of his artistic process.

The Foundation lent Pink Angels (c. 1945) and Untitled (“Still Life”) (c. 1945) to the exhibition.

It’s rare for the Board to approve the lending of a work from the Foundation’s permanent display — but Keith Haring’s Untitled (Motorcycle), 1987, is making a special journey to the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.

Its temporary absence has given us the opportunity to spotlight another iconic work: @dazeworldnyc Honda VFR 750, 1986, now on view through January 2027.

The Frederick R. Weisman Art Foundation is honored to be included in Jasper Johns: Night Driver at the Guggenheim Bilbao. This retrospective exhibition dedicated to Jasper Johns spans the extensive career of one of the most celebrated artists of our time, from his early works made in the 1950s to some of his most recent pieces produced in the 2000s. The show highlights all the themes that define his production through a selection of pieces—mostly paintings, but also sculptures and a broad representation of his work on paper.

The Foundation is pleased to lend Painting with Ruler and “Gray” (1960) and Target (1960) to the exhibition.

Rarely does the Board allow the Foundation to move an artwork from permanent display. Such is the case with Willem de Kooning’s Dark Pond, 1948. With the loan of it to the Princeton University Art Museum, we have the rare opportunity to temporarily bring in new art into the Carolwood House. In its absence, we have used the opportunity to share Ed Moses’ Bot, 2016, which will be on view until the end of July. Please schedule a tour to see it on our website. taken in Frederick R.
