Every year on October 12th we get to celebrate National Farmers Day!

Today we wanted to THANK YOU for allowing us to be your farmers. We are dedicated to feeding our community and appreciate all of your support letting us do just that.

When we moved here from Ohio 12 years ago, you didn’t have to make us feel as welcome, but you did. You didn’t have to buy your beef from us, but you did. You didn’t have to share our posts and tell your friends and family about our small farm, but you did. You didn’t have to choose us as your farmers, but you did. And for that we are so grateful! 🧡 by @wellsfarmsbeef

Recently my sister sent me pictures of their 2nd fresh water shrimp harvest and it got me thinking about the shear vast of diversity in the agricultural industry.

It’s so much more than livestock and tractors. Agriculture is a much more diverse industry than what we think. From food to fuel to fiber, American farmers and those working in the agricultural industry work tirelessly in careers that have a direct impact in SO many different ways on all of our daily lives.

Even in our own family you can see one small segment of the diversity of agriculture…

We raise livestock to produce high quality proteins that we direct market to feed our local communities.

My sister’s family has ventured into aquaculture, raising fresh water prawns on a small scale to feed their local community.

Kenny’s sister’s family are grain farmers. Raising quality crops to help feed and fuel our nation and beyond.

The next time you fuel up your car, feed your family, grow your garden, plant your flowers, get dressed, etc… just stop and think even if you aren’t involved in agriculture, just how much of impact it makes in your life. Agriculture is an industry worth protecting. by @wellsfarmsbeef

10 years ago, we started this farm with a simple dream: to build a small family business that fed our community, allowed us to work together, give back, and live this Ag lifestyle we love.

Over the years, thanks to you, our customer base has grown tremendously. We’re incredibly grateful — but that growth has also brought us to a point where we need to take a step back and rethink how we operate.

After a lot of thought (and yes, some tears!), we’ve decided to simplify our sales model. Moving forward, we’ll focus our meat sales on farmers markets and scheduled on-farm sales days, and we’ll be stepping away from online sales with home delivery, and CSAs.
We know change can be hard, and this decision wasn’t made lightly. Every order, delivery, CSA, market visit, and word of support has helped make our farm dreams possible.

We’re not going anywhere — we’re simply choosing a path that allows us to continue raising great local meat while making space for the family, farming, and community connections we love most.

Thank you for helping us build these dreams and for allowing our family to feed yours. We can’t wait to see you at the market and here at the farm! by @wellsfarmsbeef

How lucky were we to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard. 💔

Last night we lost Lucy, possibly one of the best dogs ever. She has been a part of our lives for almost 15 years and the girls don’t know life without that black dog trailing behind them.

For quite sometime we knew our days with her greeting us on the porch were getting shorter, it doesn’t make it any easier.

Lucy loved lots of things - rides in the back of the truck, swimming, pheasant hunting, tolerating Stella, treats and bones from me while working in the farm store, naps on the porch, delivery drivers, and of course visiting and getting love from all of our customers that visited the farm.

But what she loved the most were her people. She was just there, living life with us, happy to see us come out the door every morning and happy to just sleep on the porch when we were inside. She just wanted to be close to her favorite people in the world.

Rest easy Lucy girl. You were so loved and will be so missed. ❤️ by @wellsfarmsbeef
