Here is the finished piece. Thank you all involved, the security and staff at @ucdavishealth, @tom_ebc_mxd for helping me document and get footage, my brother @invidiouscreationscho for coming out and spending a morning with us sewing up the final shots for my vision for the mid form length video (on my reels). I’ll be dropping a wip and bts vid on you tube later on after ive healed from some dental surgery, but for now enjoy and thank you all again for the support!

Traditionally artists have been asked to work for free, for exposure, or for highly undervalued rates. Now with AI theyve all been pushed out of the equation as their labor has been stolen. So what is it? We value the spacefield that is Art, the place to extract an experience, but we continue to devalue or expect the homie hook up when it comes to artist labor? Why? Is that you just dont have the budget? Is it that you, orgs, haven’t properly researched the rates of the services you ate looking to support or procure? at what point so you realize that EVERYTHING rises with the tide of inflation and lack of poor planning. by @welsed

This second mural was started in Dec 2024, and finished last week, was for the Lake County Campus of Woodland Community College in Clearlake, CA. I had to build a wall (24ft x 12ft) and had absolutely NO place to build it at. The same commissioner of the previous mural wanted me to do this one as well. The tricky thing is that when someone wants a mural done in winter, it's a tough task. Often folks dont think of this when they send out these RFQs. But, as luck would have it, my dude, @jrmygdrd came thru clutch and it is with his families yard that I was able to do this piece at all. With his help building it, tearing it down, and transporting it for delivery, none of this would have been possible. I'm eternally grateful to be able to have a very select few, less than a handful of people, that really communicate with me on a daily basis if not weekly basis, and really make this life a joy to live as an artist. There is footage of this as well I dont care to edit. So, forgive me, but I have become somewhat bored of painting if it is not in the public space. I feel it's useless if it isn't creating a dialog within communities, with people, for people, by a person that can represent their voice. Thus, the work seen will be far and few between, as is my presence here, since the politics of IGs management is deplorable. But waxing poetically aside, we got it done, and for that, I'm excited. I dont have a pic of it being installed at the location, since they still have to work out the deets for the install, but my work stops there. I'm just the artist. I merely design, craft a wall, order supplies, travel back and forth to paint, paint, breakdown, and drive 2 hours to deliver it. lol - It came out coo. I aint mad at it. Enjoy. In Dec of 2023 I earned a commission with the City of Clearlake @cityofclearlake to do their "Welcome To" city mural. After an arduous year of contract negotiations with the location and the org that commissioned me, including many, MANY setbacks, none I had control over, I was able to start in Nov of 2024. Due to weather conditions I was unable to start and finish til sometime in Jan/Feb 2025. It was a job I didn't want to take in the first place. The location was prime for views but EXTREMELY tough to paint. Nevermind the 4 hour round trip to drive there everyday for nearly two weeks. But it got done, and today, I was able to finally get decent photos without the scaffolding in the way. We took a lot of footage, none of which I care to actually edit or post. A huge thanks goes out to @yeareeese for connecting me with @bloodcreeping as the design required a Pomo tribe figure to be included, and I wanted to make sure I had representation on my crew. Kilak served that well. A good young man, and it was hella fun having you around my dude! Thanks also goes out to my bro @jrmygdrd for holding it down for that first week for filming! Each letter in the piece stands for a specific thing: Clear, Lakeside Liftoff, Elegance of Avians, Angler's Adventure, Recreation at the State Park, Lifesaving Partnerships, Ancestral Pomo Heritage, Konocti's Majesty, and Era Of Mining. Each Representing a piece of Clearlake's History, Wildlife, and Appeal. Lastly, I have been absent here on IG since Feb. I will post things as they come up finished, but I won't be checking DMs nor replying. If you want to hit me up, hit me up via email or text. It’s tough. My shiht just doesn’t reach people. Yah know, yah told you just gotta work hard and you’ll earn the respect but rarely have I seen that play out in my case. I won’t speak on what I have seen play out, but let’s just say celebrating mediocrity means you gotta have some sort of gimmick. Play the algo. Lack integrity. A purpose. Something to stand on. That type of stuff. I ain’t hatin’, but I remember when skill mattered over the simping. Or maybe it always mattered more, the simpin’, idk.

Here’s a few hours boiled down into 40 seconds. Makes me sick I gotta do that. Shit hits different when you’re 3 floors up on rickety scaffolding hours away from home missing your fams. We paid, so we up, fuck it. Consume it. 🙏🏽🤘🏽 by @welsed
