Voting for the Black Business Ball has officially begun! 💜

I’m honored to be nominated for the Influential Business Leader – Female Award.

For the last seven years, I have poured my heart into building Pieces of Kandakes Jewelry and WEP MPLS with one mission: helping women reclaim their confidence, use their voices, and feel seen. Nearly 70 women have trusted us with their stories, and this nomination represents every person who has believed in and supported this vision.

Now I need my village! Click the link below, scroll to Influential Business Leader – Female, and vote for Rashawnda C. Scott.

Every vote and every share matters. I thank you in advance. Link in the bio 💜

Women Empowerment Project MPLS @wepmpls was created by @piecesofkandakes from something very near and dear to our founder.

What started as a passion for styling women in our jewelry has grown into a storytelling and empowerment platform that now champions trailblazers who have overcome adversity.

This is more than an event.
This is more than a photoshoot.
It is a space for women to be seen, heard, celebrated, and empowered.

If this speaks to you, apply.
If you know a woman this may speak to, send this to her.

Applications for the 2026 Women Empowerment Project are open now.

Applications close July 15.

Apply through the link in bio.

10 DAYS. 🤎

We’re getting close, and our hearts are full.

The Women Empowerment Project was created because we know what it feels like to carry so much and still show up for everyone else.

But you deserve a space where you don’t have to have it all together.

A space to take off the armor.
To breathe.
To be seen.
To have honest conversations.
To connect with women who understand that strength doesn’t mean you never need support.

This year, we’re PLANTED — rooted in leadership, strength, purpose, and the reminder that what God planted in you still matters.

October 18, we gather.

Red carpet begins at 5 PM, followed by an evening created with YOU in mind.

10 days. We can’t wait to see you.

MEET OUR PANEL DISCUSSION MODERATOR

She’s back! For the third year in a row, we’re excited to welcome Shakirah Edwards @shakwiththefacts_ back to the Women Empowerment Project MPLS — this time as our Panel Discussion Moderator for the 7th Annual WEP Launch Party.

Shakirah is a dynamic multimedia host, journalist, communications specialist, mother, and event curator based in the Twin Cities. With more than a decade of red carpet and hosting experience, she has earned her title as The Conversation Curator @the_conversationcurator — creating engaging conversations across stages, podcasts, and digital platforms.

Her work goes beyond simply asking questions. Shakirah is passionate about creating space for people to share their stories, challenging the status quo, and amplifying voices within her community.

She is also the creator of Shak With The Facts, a platform highlighting Black and Brown-owned businesses throughout the Twin Cities, and the founder of The Conversation Curator, where she provides communications and creative services including social media management, speech writing, hosting, and press and publicity.

We’re honored to have Shakirah back for another year and excited to have her guide a meaningful conversation with our panelists, bringing their stories, experiences, and perspectives to the forefront.

MEET OUR PANELIST: DR. NNEKA ONUMA @drnnekaspeaks

We’re excited to welcome Dr. Nneka Onuma to the Women Empowerment Project MPLS 2026 Launch Party panel.

Dr. Nneka Onuma is a transformational speaker on a mission to help women rebuild, rise, and reclaim their power after life’s most defining moments.

As a recently divorced mother of three, Dr. Nneka has walked through uncertainty, identity shifts, heartbreak, and the quiet but powerful decision to choose herself again. Her speaking business was born from that journey—with a desire to turn pain into purpose.

Through keynote addresses, workshops, panel discussions, and private coaching, she uses her personal story of reinvention to inspire women to rewrite their own narratives, rediscover their confidence, and step boldly into the lives they deserve.

Her work centers on healing, resilience, self-worth, single motherhood, emotional empowerment, and purposeful reinvention.

We’re looking forward to the perspective and powerful story Dr. Nneka will bring to the conversation.

Join us for the Women Empowerment Project MPLS Launch Party.
