Legislative Update from GOA Texas & Armed Attorneys
HB 3053 by Rep. Wes Virdell is now law — taking effect September 1, 2025.

This GOA-backed bill prohibits cities and counties from using taxpayer dollars for firearm “buyback” programs that target law-abiding gun owners.

Texans spoke up — and we won another fight for the Second Amendment. Thank you to everyone who made calls, emailed legislators, and stood firm for your rights!

Stay tuned as we continue working with Armed Attorneys and Rep. Virdell to defend freedom in the 90th Legislative Session.

As a 9th generation Texan and former State Director of @gunownersofamerica, Rep. @wes_virdell has spent his life defending our Conservative values. In the wake of the tragic Kerrville flooding, he’s stepped up and demonstrated what true servant leadership looks like. I’m proud to have his endorsement for Senate District 22. #txlege by @wes_virdell
