I am grateful to have been able to host my first Passover Seder this year. It was so special to bond over food and traditions, and served as a necessary reminder that the Jewish values of freedom and liberation for all oppressed peoples stand in direct antithesis to a government that is attacking queer, immigrant, and reproductive rights, and is funding a genocide in Gaza. While I am not religious, my heritage has taught me that anyone justifying oppression on religious grounds has a fundamental misunderstanding of the texts and traditions they claim to venerate. A christmas caroler conventicle

Throwing dinner parties has always been a dream of mine, and I am so grateful for the friends who helped make my first a success. Hopefully by the next one I’ll have enough chairs we don’t have to eat on the floor.

What I made:
- highland beef pie
- gingerbread eggnog (with or without rum)
- mulled wine
- N/A spiced apple cider
- horseradish mashed potatoes
- roasted carrots

Other highlights from the night:
- mozzarella chicken
- egg noodle kugel
- delicious fresh salad
- gingerbread tiramisu
- pumpkin pie
- Christmas cookies and brownies by @weslieberman

“Brick” by the Ben Folds Five
“Charity” from Daddy Long Legs

Here are two songs near and dear to my heart that also highlight what I am working on vocally: dexterity and lightness in the high chest and mix voice. I’m also posting this in the spirit of progress. These are nowhere near finished products, but I’m enjoying leaning into the imperfection, as being comfortable sounding bad is the first step to being able to sing in a new way. If you really want to read too far into it, you could say my ego is the Brick and three months of frustration and vocal cracking is the Charity.

In honor of my recent move to NYC to continue exploring my love of theater, I thought that I would share my updated vocal performance reel with you all.

I don't post performance videos on Instagram often, as I see it as a platform to share my personal life more than professional, but if you are interested in more clips of me singing, check out my website: weslieberman.com

Here’s a list of the songs I sing in this video:
1. “Neverland” from Finding Neverland
2. “Promises, Promises” from Promises, Promises
3. “Being Alive” from Company
4. “What Does She Mean By Love” from Daddy Long Legs
5. “Lucky to Be Me” from On the Town
6. “Avant de Quitter Ces Lieux” from Faust
7. “Radames’ Letter” from Aida
8. (“Neverland” again) by @weslieberman
