I updated our school photo back in November, but in the craziness of Christmas, forgot to post. If anyone has any way to stop these kids from growing, let me know. I just registered my youngest for kindergarten and I am not ok 🥲 time to make another one of these 😭 taken in Sidney, British Columbia by @westcoastersbc

We love seeing Jill at the Crafted Farmhouse Market! Make sure you pop by her booth to say hello 👋

“WestCoasters BC started when we needed some items for our wedding. We made our own centrepieces and guest coasters with our tiny desktop laser, and they were such a hit, so we just kept going! Over the years our style has changed and evolved, along with our skill and attention to this business (including a much larger laser machine!). Adding 2 children along the way has slowed us down just a little, but they have also been an inspiration for many of our products. The beauty of the West Coast has also been our main source of inspiration, and we hope you feel our love of the coast through our work. ”

Hey friends! I’ve made the decision to close down orders for the rest of the month of June. Teachers, you get it. I’m entering my busiest month teaching, and am still learning the ropes at my new school. I’m at the ball field 5x+ a week for my kids, and I’ve received a few big orders that will keep me busy. I fear adding more to my plate until I get things under control. I will update and delete this post once I’ve decided to open up. Thank you so much 🤍🤍 if you have a current order with me, don’t worry, you’re good! by @westcoastersbc

When I think about a relaxing day, it almost always includes a book and crochet (because I am a granny and I love it). I started reading ebooks almost exclusively when my kids were young and I was up all hours of the night nursing and didn’t want a light on. While I still am addicted to my kobo and having 20 books on hold at all times through the library), there really is something special about a book in your hands.
Ok ok. Rambling story. If you made this far, these bookmarks are one of the two new styles I hope to have with me at the market this weekend, and maybe I’ll even get them on the website. Maybe.

SPRING MARKET // March 28
@westcoastersbc

My name is Jill, and I am a wife, mother, sister, daughter, friend, teacher, and (apparently) a wood worker. Ask me even 5 years ago if I saw myself holding power tools and working with wood, I might have laughed at you. I didn’t grow up around them, but here we are, proof that you can learn new skills even when you’re “old”.
I went to university for eons, it felt like, and came out with a B.Sc and a B.Ed and most certainly thought that was the direction for my entire life. Don’t get me wrong, I love teaching, but life works in funny little ways, doesn’t it, and I made the scary decision to quit full time teaching and work on this business instead. It allowed me the flexibility to be more available to my two young children, and also give me some breathing space and time to destress after many years of feeling a little burnt out.
Let me tell you - I think I made the right decision. I LOVE working on this business, I love interacting with you all, and I love being creative. I love seeing your ideas, and how I can make them come to life. I surprise myself over and over, and pinch myself when I see a completed project. So thank you for supporting me, my dream, and my family..

My first post of 2026, showcasing my last creation of 2025. So far, 2026 has been a change. I’m working at a new school, which has been so wonderful, but so draining. I was so burnt out after Christmas that the thought of turning on my machine for all of January made me ill.However, I’m starting to get the itch - the creative outlet seems to come for me, and honestly, with everything going on in the world, I feel like it’s time to make something that might spark so joy, happiness, or even just a small smile. So please enjoy this adorable puffin, and thanks for being here. by @westcoastersbc

This Christmas season was a whirlwind. So many fun custom requests, many of them will make it onto the website. Custom bay ornaments are my top seller each Christmas. I’m so excited to add this one to my repertoire. We are too late to order in time for Christmas this year, but the can be ordered year round and I’ll be sure to highlight this sweet one next year
