❗️WCP’s 2026–27 CALL FOR SCORES WINNERS❗️ Swipe to meet our incredible 2026–27 Call for Scores winners! 🎉 We received 65 applications from student composers across the United States and are thrilled to feature works by Luca Pasquini (@lucapasquini.music) and Michele Selvaggi (@micheleselvaggimusic) during our upcoming season 🌟 We’d also like to extend special recognition to Younje Cho (@younjech), our 2026–27 Honorable Mention. Congratulations to all three composers, and thank you to everyone who applied—we can’t wait to bring this music to life so soon! #westsidechamberplayers #composer #LucaPasquini #MicheleSelvaggi #YounjeCho @lucapasquini.music is a NYC-based composer and interdisciplinary artist exploring the complexity of human emotions through themes of the natural, supernatural, and digital worlds, often meditating on viscerality and virtuosity. His work spans various mediums, from the concert music stage to music for installation, dance, and film. Luca has collaborated with esteemed ensembles and groups, including @salastinala, @sfcontemporarymusicplayers, @hubnewmusic, @unheardofensemble, @rhythmethod4tet, @dither4tet, @playgroundensemble, @cpstl, The New York University Orchestra, @eryctaylordance, and @locodanceco. His work has received recognition from @tribeca.new.music, @voicesdallas, @artzenter, the National Young Composers Challenge, @youngartsfoundation, @ascapfoundation, and more. He has participated in programs at the Norfolk Connecticut Summerfest, Salastina Sounds Promising, and @yellowbarnmusic. Luca holds a degree from @nyusteinhardt. His mentors have included @justindellojoio, @michaelgordon481, and @robertshonstein. Congratulations Luca! 🎉 Five-time @socanfdn Award Winning composer @micheleselvaggimusic hails from the heart of downtown Toronto with strong Southern Italian roots. With “a compositional approach that is nourished by a special sonic apparatus” (@percorsimusicali), Michele is concerned deeply with the physiological experience of sound, notably driven by their own confrontation with time’s passage. Their experimental work is coloured from earlier engagement in natural sciences, resulting in noisy topographies and by @westsidechamberplayers

A change to our November 20 program ❤️‍🩹 Due to a nerve injury, our featured soloist Katie Butler (@kt.btlr) will unfortunately be unable to join us for our November 20 concert. After much consideration, Katie and the WCP team have made the decision to postpone her performance to the 2027-28 season so that she can have the time and space to focus fully on her recovery. While we’re disappointed that we won’t get to hear her perform with us this November, we’re grateful to be able to support her in taking the time she needs! Katie shared: “I’m deeply grateful to the incredible team at Westside for this opportunity and for their flexibility in navigating a nerve injury with me. It is disappointing to have to postpone but also an incredible relief to have the time to simply focus on recovery right now. I feel like it is totally the right call. In the meantime, I can’t wait to experience Westside in November from the audience side and hear my mega-talented friends rocking out!” We’re sending Katie all our love and support as she focuses on recovery, and we hope to welcome her back to the orchestra in 2027 🫶🏼 More details about the updated program coming soon! #westsidechamberplayers by @westsidechamberplayers
