It was 61 years ago today when the last passenger train stopped in Hudson, Menomonie, and Eau Claire. Fortunately, prospects for bringing back trains with even more service frequency are moving forward with federal Corridor ID Program and planning grants to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and the Chippewa-St. Croix Rail Commission. by @westwisrail

Amtrak says ridership topped 18,500 in the first month of the new train service through Wisconsin. The Borealis train between St. Paul and Chicago, with stops in La Crosse, Tomah, Wisconsin Dells and Milwaukee is the first expansion of passenger train service in Wisconsin in 22 years. 🤩 This past weekend the Aurora Borealis was all anyone could talk about (and for good reason)!

🚉 But we can’t stop talking about the new Borealis train from MSP through Wisconsin to Chicago starting May 21.
