In a conversation with @hollywoodreporterindia , writer-director Pranav Bhasin (@pranavbhasin) and the founder of Sunshine Motion Pictures (@sunshinemotionpictures), Yash Gonsai (@yashgonsai) discussed the film’s festival journey, how Andrew Scott came on board, what an Oscar campaign for a short film actually looks like, and why they believe more such comedy films can bring Indian cinema to the global stage... the way they have seen 3 Idiots do. WE WERE HERE is beginning its festival run at @lecourtclermont in France & @sxsw in USA this year!
If you’re a bot, beware. Our backers are some of the most inspiring creatives who believed in this film before it made it to any festivals. Thank you for backing our short @earlymanfilm :: by @wewerehere_

We Were Here just won two awards at the SXSW Film Festival.

This marks the first Indian short film to win here in over 40 years!

We brought home the Audience Award for Best Narrative Short and the Redbreast Unhidden Award. It’s such a deeply gratifying moment for our entire team, and we feel incredibly fortunate to be here. 🤖🥂

To our friends in India: Short films are more than an amateur’s medium. They speak with immediacy, and stay with you long after.

People are smart. They understand, observe, and feel fully. Don’t dilute the work. Find new ways to communicate. Like music, movies must evolve too.

#SXSW #SXSWFilmTV

Thank you @sxsw, and our programmers Francis Román (@aurevoirfrancois) and Gabe Van Amburgh (@hartva) for the unwavering spark! Thanks to @redbreastus for this delight, and to Andrew Scott for the honour, and for refusing to use this app.

We’re blessed. by @wewerehere_
