Last weekend our boys and girls cross country teams took on Holloway Park. A difficult course, made even moreso by rain leading up to race day. Our teams battled through the mud for a 5th place finish by the boys, led by an 11th place overall finish by Derek Cook. Philip Walter also got in on the medal action with a 6th place overall finish in the JV race. Our only PR of the day (shows how tough the course was) came from Gabby Azie, who dusted her previous best by 50 seconds!!! Great job everybody! #fineblueline taken in Holloway Park XC Park by @whartontfcc

In Marlee Trought's (@m4rlee._ ) first state meet, she braved the weather for a podium finish and an 8th place medal!!! It started to rain as the event began and Marlee just got her last jump in before the weather delay started. Her jump of 11.15m (1 cm shy of her PR) would be enough to finish on the podium after the event resumed. Way to go, Marlee!!! taken in University Of North Florida - Hodges Stadium by @whartontfcc

Our boys cross country team had their sights set on reaching the state meet as a team for the first time since 2019, but came up just 31 points shy of qualifying as a top 8 team. They went down swinging though, with 6 of the 7 boys running their PR!!! A very strong finish to the season. They'll be back with a vengeance, but first, track season!! #fineblueline taken in North Port High School by @whartontfcc
