🥳 Welcome to Elle-stagram 🥳

Hello and welcome to whatellereadnext - my very own bookstagram account to share my silly thought about books, admit how insane I am and how much I read, and build incredible community of amazing bookish people 😍

I first did this when I had about 5 followers and SOMEHOW there are now nearly 500 of you (WTF?!?) and so I thought I’d share (half) my face and introduce myself… properly!

My main inspo for starting this was getting onto some ARC teams, wanting to have a platform to share my thoughts on books without feeling like I was saying “too much”, and most importantly, to find community. There’s a reason found family is my favourite trope and it’s because I wouldn’t be here without the people I met - and SO many of the best ones started as internet strangers!!

So hi! If you’ve made it this far, I’m Elle. I’m 33 and I’m slap bang in the middle of the UK. And I’m honestly so happy you’re here. Books are my haven, my safe escape when life has been particularly brutal (which it has this year). I mostly read fantasy because I want to escape reality, and my books let me do that.

So c’mon - introduce yourself! Swipe across - do we share any favourites? Anything you totally didn’t expect from me?! And what do you love most about books?!!

(Also sorry not sorry if this song now gets stuck in your head too)

🎧 LET’S TALK AUDIOBOOKS 🎧

Those of you who’ve seen my monthly stats know that a big chunk of my ‘reading’ comes from listening on the go. I very much don’t subscribe to the stupid argument that listening to books isn’t ‘real reading’ or whatever... because I can very definitely still tell you what happened in the story! I will also click request on almost ANY audio ARC (ALCs) I get offered because I just vibe with audio so much.

I get asked a lot of questions about audiobooks and so I’ve put together some information about what, where, how and HOW FAST to audio - as well as some of my favourite books in audio form.

I personally have used audible in the past, but now I use libro.fm - please ask me if you want to know more, and if you do want to sign up, I have a code that gets us both a free credit!

What about you? Any books that you think are made 10x better by being on audio? I’m ALWAYS happy to add to my list.

✨ Friday Favourites ✨

I AM SO EXCITED TO SHARE THESE 😍

Last year I was a good girl, and I was introduced to my wife’s (@cassieereads) favourite universe - Shadowhunters by @cassieclare1 - and there was one particular trilogy that I fell in love with.

The Infernal Devices has a wonderfully special place in my heart, and when I got off the @bewitched.pages back list subscription only to find out that these would be my first three boxes... AHHHH!!!

If you haven’t read them, I cannot recommend them enough (even if they aren’t as pretty as mine) but this series is PURE. FANTASY. PERFECTION. It’s definitely YA fantasy rather than Romantasy, BUT you will absolutely not regret it. My heart does a SQUEEEEEZE whenever I think of these babies. AHHHH it’s squeezing now!!!! 😍

Have you read this series or do you still have the joy to come?!

☀️ Under The Iron Sky ☀️

Anyone who’s spoken to me recently KNOWS just HOW obsessed I am with this book!!! And I was the luckiest girl in the world because not only did I get a copy of the absolutely incredible ALC, and a belated ARC copy from the @delreyuk Summer Party but last night I ALSO got to meet the gorgeous and incredible @at.emerald herself!! She is such a warm and lovely person, with great taste in reading habits (team audiobook!) and not only that but she’s a local gal (and you can swipe to see how happy I am to meet her!!)

I also got to go to the event with my lovely book club gals @keets.reads.romance is and @_ohemmgee_ - if you’ve never tried a book event, I can’t recommend them enough. You get to not only meet authors but make bookish friends (hi @mybookishhyperfix 😁 ) and bookish community is THE BEST.

NOW ABOUT THE BOOK.

First of all, let me just say, the full cast narration on this book is INCREDIBLE. It was one of the things that sold me on it originally but it really made the story for me and got me so much more invested in both the main characters and the side characters as it gave them additional personality. Found Family is my #1 regardless, and I think this will only get better in the next two books, and the combination of that AND Enemies To Lovers is sheer perfection!!

The combination of magic, machines and monsters was so cleverly woven together in a way that just WORKED, the pacing was spot on - even if the last 10% had me reeling (in the best way) and sets up the next two books so well. Even though they’re enemies on opposite sides of the war, I genuinely was so invested in both of them that I didn’t know which side to root for. Perfect if you love darkness and tension with genuine emotional stakes... This is a PROPER Enemies to Lovers and I can’t wait for more.

If you’re an audio-aholic like me, snap this one up via audio - you will not regret it! Out now in the UK and US, with some gorgeous special editions available, including this one from @themysteriousbookcase 😍

Have you read this one yet? Or is it just sitting on your TBR?

Helloooooo @birchandspine 🫣 I’m Elle, Reading Enthusiast, Special Edition-aholic and I would be HONOURED to be a rep for you!! 😍

I am a Romantasy lover through and through, but I love to dabble in dark romance (my idea of a palate cleanse!), dystopian (I’m getting braver!) and my BELOVED cosy fantasy, but honestly... with the right recs, I’ll try anything 😁 I adore a strong confident FMC, a morally grey man, and the actual trope of my life - Found Family!!

I’m a bit of an addict when it comes to books (300+ this year, oops!?) and I love to #ellefluence my friends into joining me with all my latest obsessions!!! I typically read on my kindle or do audiobooks and then buy myself shelf trophies 🏆 of the very best ones.

It’s probably not a shock that with a favourite trope like Found Family, I’m a massive lover of fandom community. I’ve met some of my favourite people ever because of BOOKS, and finding new besties to scream and fangirl and theorise with is the highlight of my week!

I’d love to represent Birch & Spine for so so many reasons, but here are some of my top ones:
🐈‍⬛ I love supporting Independent bookstores, and the family vibes, cosy aesthetic and attention to detail from someone who CLEARLY loves books is exactly what I love myself
🐈‍⬛ All the Birch & Spine content showcases bookish products in a way that feels like you’re part of a family, and you can’t help but want to become a part of it 🥰
🐈‍⬛ The customer service from birch and spine is always SO top tier, and that’s exactly the sort of team I want to be part of!
🐈‍⬛ I love to #ellefluence my besties, and I would love to rep you and help other bookish besties - new and old - to discover more books!!
🐈‍⬛ I’d love to be part of hyping Birch & Spine, as well as the independent authors and artists featured - spreading the bookish love! ❤️

Thank you so much for considering my application! I don’t have anything specific for Salem other than lots of skritches behind the head and a swipe to see me playing hide and seek 🐈‍⬛🥰

✨ Friday Favourites ✨

Here I am again with more Friday Favourites to showcase some beautiful books... now that they are all in my possession… let’s talk Sundered Realms by @breegrenwichauthor and @parkerlennoxauthor !!

This series has been one of my favourite discoveries this year (thanks to @charlottereadsfantasy supervising a buddy read for me and @theliterarywitchx hehe) and I am SO glad I read them with my girlies to theorise like a crazy person 🥰

They are the sort of books you really need to read in the suggested reading order for MAXIMUM IMPACT and emotional damage. So, repeat after me: Riftborne, Duskbound, The Ascended. Good job.

On the left are my three @waterstones editions of these, and on the right is my gorgeous @maidenmotherandcroneltd version of Riftborne (I hope we get Duskbound to match!), the incredible Indie version of The Ascended that I got from @badgirlbooksuk and finally the @kensingtonbooks paperback that I got yesterday - it’s honestly hard to pick a favourite 😍

Have you got a favourite edition? Have you read this series or do you still have the joy to come?!

I AM ACTUALLY SO OBSESSED WITH THEM!!!!

@bewitched.pages had absolutely smashed it out the park with the first two books, but there’s something about seeing all three of them together that just makes them hit so beautifully 😍😍😍

The Infernal Devices by @cassieclare1 is one of the most stunning trilogies I’ve ever read, and I am honestly delighted to own a set that matches it in beautiful books on the outside too.

I’m gonna just sit and gaze at them on my shelves in wonder because I honestly can’t look away.

Have you read them? If not, WHY NOT AND WHEN WILL YOU???

🍂 Cosy Fantasy Recommendations - ARC Edition! 🍂

IT’S AUTUMN!! The rain has come, the temperature are cooling, I am in a hoodie and I am READY!!!

If you haven’t already seen, I’m a huge fan of a cosy fantasy book - what could be better than curling up under a blanket with a cup of tea and a good book - one that will leave me feeling warm and cosy inside as well?! And we all know, the best things about a good cosy fantasy are found family, low stakes, and food.

One thing’s for sure, if I see a cosy fantasy book going on @netgalley it is an IMMEDIATE request - I am literally never not in the mood! I’ve already done my best cosy fantasy recommendations of stuff that’s already out, but here are some of the best cosy fantasy ARCs I’ve read that are perfect for this season! And the best part is... all of them are out now 😁

Are there any others you recommend? What’s your favourite autumnal cosy reading set up?

The Cozy Cauldron Cab Co. by @nathancashford

This book was the perfect epitome of cosy fantasy - fun, light and makes you hungry!! The small town vibes and found family were amazing and the whole book has me feeling READY for autumn. The variety of the cast of characters and how they all fit together was so inviting, and the feel-good vibe was so enjoyable.

I’ve also eaten an embarrassing amount of cinnamon rolls since reading it. Ooops?

The Spellbound Cottage by @genevievespages

This was such a lovely and cosy book - perfect for this time of year!! This story focused on a home renovation project, and as someone who dreams of abandoning life and renovating a cute cottage in a tiny lil village, it was such a whimsical delight. The romance isn’t front and centre and it’s definitely a very slow burn, but sweet and enjoyable nonetheless, and I’ll happily look forward to more books in the series in the future. As is often the case with a good cosy fantasy, it left me SO hungry (seriously, how do they get anything done with all the eating and baking?!!!) and the found family and community vibes were just wonderful - going to need to try find myself an by @whatellereadnext
