The first legit line I’ve done since tearing my (second) ACL in October, I think 🤔
It was good to let my brain work it through.
Generally feeling great with where I’m at and my running, jumping, and strength training are progressing well (as long as I don’t push them all consistently at the same time 😅).

That time my family rafted Class III rapids on Río Balsa and ran over one of the safety staff.
Lo siento.

Notes:
- not a single flattering photo in the 105 taken
- I did, at one point, fall out of the raft

Costa Rica: Fauna
1. Perezoso (I don’t like calling them sloths, because it sounds like a value judgement. But the Spanish name also means lazy 😆)
2. Young Green Iguana
3. Cane Toad
4. Curassow
5. House Geckos. Probably they eat your bugs (though not the neurotoxic worm I found in my bathroom late one night), but also drop poo on your countertops 🙄
6. Blue Morpho Butterfly caterpillar

I didn’t see a toucan, though I heard many birds of Costa Rica (so many, so loud). by @whatiswithsteph

Via “Google AI Overview”:
“Casado” refers to a traditional Costa Rican dish, a hearty and affordable meal consisting of rice, beans, plantains, salad, and a tortilla, often with a protein like chicken, beef, or fish.
Here’s a more detailed breakdown:
What it is:
A “casado” is a popular and iconic Costa Rican dish, often considered a national dish, and is a staple on menus throughout the country.
Ingredients:
Base: Rice, black or red beans, and a salad (often green or pasta salad).
Protein: Choice of protein, such as chicken, beef, fish, or eggs.
Sides: Fried plantains, a tortilla, and sometimes other sides like avocado, eggs, or picadillo (a vegetable stew).
Origin:
While the exact origins are unclear, it’s believed to have emerged in the early 20th century as a way to provide nutritious and affordable lunches to working-class Costa Ricans.
Name:
The word “casado” translates to “married” in Spanish, and the dish’s origin story suggests that it may have been named after the meals that married men ate at home.
Variations:
There are regional variations of the casado, with different ingredients and preparation methods depending on the area of Costa Rica. by @whatiswithsteph

I love the clever idea @mel2toes had to convert this piece of metal art into a pin! 🧷 😁 👌

I made this acid-etched brass pendant for the auction at @thecommons.boston Join or Die VI event in Boston last October and it was purchased by Mel.
It’s the same design as the belt buckle I donated as a prize (for “Most Wholesome Participant”), which was awarded to her daughter @meganmcqueen_ at that same event! 🙌 by @whatiswithsteph

Something a little different this week….

Some words from Steph:
Brenda and I started this project during my return to parkour after knee surgery.
The story is well told in our short film ‘Versions’.
Last October, I injured my other knee and recently got the MRI report. I’ll need surgery on this one too.
I’ve decided not to risk the falls and awkward landings (you’ve seen a few of those here) that may cause me further injury and/or long-term damage until I can get more answers. The timelines for a consult, a surgery date, and for recovery are all unknowable.
Our last reel was #100 and I’m proud of everything Brenda and I have done. I value the time we spent together, the ways we grew in our movement, and our regular creation of engaging edits. We sessioned with many friends and challenged ourselves to emulate people far more strong and skilled than us.
I appreciate the positive feedback we’ve received, the interactions in the comments, and the new/deeper connections we have made through the nearly 2 years we have engaged in this project.
Thank you all for being here! 😁

(and sorry if you just arrived!)
