It’s been a minute and I need to be especially vulnerable with you all. I’m facing homelessness and I could really use your help.

My lease ends in the beginning of August and I don’t have a place to land. It’s just me and my dog trying to figure out our next steps, whether that’s finding somewhere to stay, sleeping in my car safely, or something else entirely.

If you could help in any way, I’d be so grateful.
Please leave a comment or a dm if you:
- Know of any housing leads, spare rooms, or short term stays (pet friendly)
- Have advice on finding shelters or resources that are pet friendly
- Tips on safely living out of a car with a pet
- Even small financial support means more than you know.
I am also current job searching, so any and all leads are welcome too.

Currently located in SE Michigan, planning to relocate to Columbus, Ohio.

This is one of the hardest things I’ve had to share (even with everything I’ve shared about the TTI), but I’m not giving up.

Last 24 hours:

• car was stolen w half of my belongings inside
• car found, taken to impound lot
• new roomie offers to drive me to impound lot to assess the damage…
• almost get into an accident on the way to impound lot bc new roomie’s front driver side tire’s lug nuts were stolen

I’ll reiterate - if you stole Katie’s lug nuts, you’re fcking lug nut.

Week One Update for everyone who’s been following along and supporting me through this life transition:

I have some good news, I have secured temporary housing and a job!

I can’t even begin to express my gratitude for every share, donation, and kind word that helped me get to this point. I haven’t had the time or emotional bandwidth to respond to every message but each one has meant so much to me and I truly don’t know where I’d be right now without it.

Sweet Pea is safe and being cared for, but unfortunately she can’t be with me yet where I’m staying. It’s honestly been one of the hardest parts about this entire situation but it brings me comfort to know that she’s okay and we’ll be back together soon.

I’m not totally out of the woods yet, but I’m doing what I can to keep moving forward. I’m beyond grateful to be a part of such a supportive community and I hope to carry this generosity forward one day when I’m back on my feet.

Thank you for showing up for us. ❤️

This past Tuesday (March 17, 2026) MI HB 5514 was heard and passed unanimously in Michigan’s House Families and Veterans Committee. It’s the first of its kind regulation on Private Youth Transportation Companies in the state.

I feel so honored to have stood with such a humble, compassionate and resilient group of people and for the chance to make a difference for children and families in Michigan.

I want to express my sincere gratitude to Representative Cavitt for listening to the voices of those directly impacted and advocating for more protections for our children. I extend my thanks to Chair Shmaltz, Vice Chair Wozniak, and the entire House Families and Veterans Committee for taking the time to consider such an important issue. Shoutout to Adam who did so much to help us feel prepared to testify and made sure everything ran smoothly!

I’d also like to sincerely thank @parishilton, Caroline Cole, and the entire 11:11 Media Impact Group for your integrity, diligence, and the compassion that shows in everything you do for our communities.

Mostly, I want to shout out the true rockstars of the day, the survivors who testified, whether written or in person, and for those of you who show up however you can to prevent these horrors from happening to any more kids. I was especially moved by Beth’s strength and testimony.

Next, the bill will move to the House floor. If it passes there, it moves on to the Senate! Stay tuned 👀

Our kids and our families deserve safety, care, and dignity. I’m proud that Michigan is considering taking the next step in the right direction with MI HB 5514.
