@cbcansw Lunch with the Stars ✨ Western Sydney edition!

I had the pleasure of sitting with students from @riverstone.school and their inspiring TL Ms Elderton as we listened to the irrepressible @whatmicksaw and drew along with the amazing Tom Jellett.

The kids were abuzz and the energy in the room was next level! Such bookish joy!

The day wouldn’t have possible without Teacher Librarian @mshall_teacherlibrarian and her team - and a day showcasing the importance of TLs and the role they play in inspiring our kids to engage with literate - so vital for our world.

📚 Three days of literary fun!

Children, families and educators across the Central West recently joined us at Storyfest Out West.

From student sessions and interactive activities to our workshops for grown-ups, the programme invited people of all ages to celebrate storytelling.

✨ For young people in regional Queensland, encountering stories and storytellers that speak to their world is particularly impactful.

These storyteller interactions sparked curiosity, confidence and new ideas, supporting long-term opportunity far beyond the festival itself.

We would like to thank our Out West sponsors and supporters, festival partners @outbackpioneers and Longreach School of Distance Education, volunteers and the Storyfest Squad.

⭐️ Where young people meet their heroes and think - yes, I can do that too! ⭐️

Recently, students, parents and educators joined us at Storyfest South West, sharing stories and plenty of fun alongside the Storyfest Squad.

From interactive student sessions, an adult workshop with Kate Foster to the Birds of Balonne activation, the festival celebrated regional stories and the people and places that inspire them.

We’d like to thank our sponsors and supporters, festival partner @balonneshirecouncil, volunteers and everyone involved in helping make Storyfest South West so impactful.

💚 South West - we can’t wait to return in 2027!

Massive thanks to the @somersetstoryfest team for a fantastic three days in Longreach, Queensland for STORYFEST OUT WEST.
📚✍🏻☺️
A brilliant team lead by Andrea Lewis work tirelessly behind the scenes to present three days of author/illustrator talks and workshops to students in the regional communities around Longreach. What a privilege to be part of this incredible celebration of stories and literacy.
The least I could do is pack up my own banner!
😝

Just one more question! The theme of our third and final day of Storyfest Out West.

It’s been an incredible few days at the Longreach School of Distance Education. We’ve traded squad cards, voted for best whiteboard illustration, solved puzzles and shared stories.

A big round of applause to our Storyfest Squad:
@janiegodwin
@louiseparkbooks
@whatmicksaw
@ivanoff.george
@samibayly
@racheljackson.com.au
@livlorkin
Richard Kinnon from @outbackpioneers

It’s with immense gratitude to our schools, community, sponsors and supporters that we’re able to create and share these experiences. Thank you all.

And just like that, @somersetstoryfest Out West 2026 has come to an end!
The day started off strong, as @whatmicksaw and I went head to head for an illustrator battle at the Writers Breakfast this morning, both getting separate prompts that were given to us from the children 🤣
I think I might have scared the children with my creepy haunted theme park creation…

Mick even drew me a portrait! (Featuring Frankie of course) 🐶❤️

It was also a very ibis themed day! I saw an ibis sculpture, showed my airport purchase of the ibis plushy to the students and even did a workshop at a school on Ibis Street… it was meant to be 🥰

Thanks again @somersetstoryfest Out West for having me. 🩵🕷️
